Hub Adapters

After talking to a mate about limited rim options with the Land Rover PCD, he suggested I look into hub adapters that will change the stud pattern to a more common type thus making rims easier to purchase.

Now I have done a few google searches in the last few days, but nothing definitive came up. Mostly just the usual spiels about legality.

Also I realise they are illegal in both Australia and NZ, thanks.

So, has anyone done this?
Where did you source your adapters from?
What stud pattern did you change too?
Do they work with heavy duty flanges?
Did they align/balance ok?
Happy with the result?

You can always use something like a 130 HD centre and have a rim welded to whatever width and offset you'd like, which is what I was originally going to do until I scored the Mach 5 rims I have.

IIRC there are adapters for the traditional PCD to the D2 PCD.

I hear ya! Most of the Sunraysia rims to suit Landrover I like the look of end up being 15x8. It's hard to find a s/h 16" Sunraysia rim nowdays.

Yeah I have seen those adapters, but would prefer a land cruiser stud pattern.

As for the 130 centres that would indeed be a route to take. But then I would be buying new rims and getting them cut up and repainted every time I want a new wheel. Where if I had the adapters I could easily get cheap new rims without modifying.



And that is why I stick with the standard rims.

I think you'll go to jail for a very long time.

On the other hand, if you use muddies, the law may be a little more lenient.

Check out the comp truck players. They would get their rims custom made. I had a few custom made rims made for a vehicle I have. They made rims for comp trucks. They would make their own centres and weld them into commercially available rims.
Unfortunately, they no longer manufacture rims.

Don't think so. If I use land cruiser rims with my mudders and adapters on private land, then travel on standard LR rims then I am not breaking the law as I am not using the adapters on public roads.

Maybe I will have to look into some custom rims.
