Steering box oil level??

howdy everyone,

chapter 11 suspension and steering of the Haynes service and repair manual has the type of oil i need under lubricant type/specification but not how much to put in???


Does any one know how much oil you put in the steering box?

FIll to the level of the filler hole. Level is not that critical, but there is no reason to have it any lower.

the oil that came out was like black thick treacle and smelled off :D

May well have been the original - I don't think that oil changes are anywhere on the service schedule, and in any case there is no drain.

That might explain why there is no mention of how much it needs.
And by the smell of it there was a good chance it was the original
