Not as yet final details to be finalised tomorrow, we had the vehicle inspected by a friend in Diboon just up the road and he knows the previous owners who also live in Dinboon (spooky eh)and it has the full service history and as well as 70,000 k service will be done before picking it up from Warnanbool.

Lookin good baz, I am glad you came to youre senses. It looks good baz. Snorkel would definitely be a good idea, are you going to add a bull bar? That is an awsome price, there was nothing like that available when i was looking, anything with Km as low as that was $35000 plus. Sounds to be a good deal. Matt

Note the number plate QUA 110

QUA = Quasi = having some resemblance usually by possession of certain attributes

110 = Defender

QUA-110 = a pretend Defender!

Got a Q for all the Disco owners. Does the central locking have a feature that allows you to unlock all doors but the back door? It appears the back door of the new Disco doesn't open! Trying to figure out if it's a Land Rover feature or something that needs fixing!

Mine is different to yours, i have central locking however, but only with the key, i dont have a fancy button. But when I unlock the car with the key all 5 doors open, 4 passenger doors and the rear door, it sounds like the actuator which pushes the lock mechanism up and down has given up the ghost. I might be wrong. On some vehicles you have to press the button several times, once to open the drivers side door, second to open all the doors. I am not sure, someone with a series II disco would better answer the question. But is most definitely should open with the other doors at some point. Ther series 1 does. matt

The central locking in our Camry can be programmed to open the drivers door on the first press and the rest on the second.
We too have a feeling it is likely to be something wrong with the locking mechanism/wiring... Will be calling the dealership tomorrow so will get them to look into it.

As you say it should be similar to youre camry. I have driven a series II disco once before and the doors were set up in the same way, press once for the dirivers side then again for the rest, but i didnt open the rear door so i am not sure if that opened aswell. Best to ask the dealer, if it isnt working have them fix it before you buy the vehicle, its their problem when it goes wrong before you buy it. Matt

Hey Redback,

Sounds like a fix it job.... I have a 2000 Disco... unless I am missing something :? there is no way to isolate the rear door from the cetral locking. Try from the remote and from the switch on the dash.... if neither unlock it... I'd say it's sick..

Nice looking wheels by the way..... I think you'll be really happy with it... we love ours..

There you go redback. If the dealer wont fix it, which they should, it shouldnt be to hard to replace, the hardest part is getting the panel of the inside, changing the unit over shouldnt be hard, just match the wires on the new one with the old and bolt it in. Matt

Redback, the S2 discos have a feature where they only unlock the drivers door on the first push of the button, and the rest on the second push. No seperate features for the tailgate though.

Looks nice but its missing a couple of cylinders  style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif

Thanks they do look good, have to get some steel rims to keep them that way.
Just another question for you or DiscoTDI when you first start the car do you have press the button on the key before it will start, cause the one we looked at at Moorebank would not start if you just got in the car put the key in and turned it, you had to press the top button on the key before it would start is this normal or do you have to do this when the car is already unlocked. I hope this is making sence. :?

Hi Redback,

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'>when you first start the car do you have press the button on the key before it will start
- Nope 8O ... mine is a V8 - I doubt that the diesels would be different, but as long as mine is unlocked don't need to touch the buttons to start it - didn't have to on the others I test drove either!

Also - <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'>have to get some steel rims to keep them that way
FYI the Disco 2 wheels are different from Disco 1 and other Landie wheels! P38A Rangie wheels are the same - but that means that steel rims around the wreckers are as rare as rockhorse sh#t

I haven't checked out after market prices - but that may be the go - some Sunrasias or something - At least in Melbourne I can buy second hand alloys cheaper than secondhand original Land Rover steels!!

--- If you find a source of cheap steel rims that fit let me know - I what some for mine plus my camper trailer when I can afford 8 - 9 rims and tyres! Anyway just a FYI before you rush off and buy Landy rims that will not fit ( Thanks to the nice people at BMW  )

I think the second hand alloys would be the way to go, chances are some aftermarket steelies would cost the same, and alloys look better. Matt
