The issue from rocky - north is heat and light.
The cows don't care but try to get young children to bed while the sun is plazing and it is 36 degrees. Yes this is what it is like at 8.00 pm in the north west if we had daylight saving. From rocky south no big deal.

Cheers

Down where I live it doesnot get dark until 9.00 pm at the height of summer.

Getting kids to bed was never a problem. It was called discipline.

So when you have a top temp of say 36 degrees how long does that last for during the day ?

When they say 36 this close to the equator it can be 36 at 8.00 in the morning and stay that way till the sun is down at the end of the day.

My point is its geographical nothing more or less.

this was in a local paper here in SA a while ago...

I think it explains how daylight savings causes droughts...

I beleive daylight saving should be in winter not summer... when you're going to work before dawn & getting home after dark...

It's not uncommon to have days of 40+ degrees down south, just look at SA in summer, Sydney can be very humid with 36+ days for days on end, because the greater Sydney area is in a basin(called the Sydney basin) humidity can be bad.

I remember camping near Mansfield(Vic) at Xmas, it was 45c for 5 days, then dropped to 38c for the rest of our time there, the next Xmas we stayed at d2daves place for 3 days, it was 36+, it gets hot here too and is not dark till after 8pm, and not unusual to stay around the mid 30s all night, even in Sydney and I haven't mentioned the north west of NSW and north east SA.

The reason Qld doesn't have daylight saving dates back to the Joh Bjelke Peterson years. He believed that the sun shone out his arse and he was not staying up an hour longer for anyone.

As for hot weather. In summer my caravan park fills up with fruit pickers.

A lot of them come down from Bowen. I am amazed at how many whinge about how hot it gets here.
