I hear you loud and clear bud,It ****s me big time how Australia adopts the American influence on words.
Terms like SUV,instead of fourby,Selfie,Fries instead of chips,Far to much American influence on many aspects of Australian life TV,Music,Movies,Food.

Be proud to be a Aussie.

Hell will freeze over before I call anything an SUV ... My brain immediatly decodes this too "Stupid Urban Vehicle"..... I rekcon we should call them CMAWI ....Chubby Middle Aged Women Inside ..... especially for the little pretend **** tanks that are actually 2wd, but "pretend" to look like boxy 4wds so the CMAW's will by them.

Yep. the americanisation of our society annoys me too.
Some of our kids, nowdays, have American accents.
I blame the telly.

Pop in and ask for some marijuana.

I would have thought that holding that pole out the window cockpit at speed would require more than one hand (but we don't know what the other was doing, ay?)

We've had 'stores' instead of shops for several years, my young colleagues frequently go to the 'bathroom', but I knew that all was lost when someone on this very site last year called a manual gearbox a 'stickshift'. Seems to me the seppo language has already replaced the Aussie one I grew up with.

No.
Even though Hamburger has more to do with Germany than our porcine "buddies."
Nor would giving someone a "pressed ham" moon be acceptable.
