View Full Version : 4Wds go any where, but do they need to park anywhere

I was astounded as to the rudeness of a couple of 4WD owners ( No not Landies);)
I was at Bunnings and was turning right into the side car park, blocking the middle of the road was a woman in a 4WD parked and sitting inside straddled completely in the middle of the access road. I had no way to get past, she saw me and it wasn't until I gave a blast of the horn she moved to one side and I was able to pass. But still she stopped in the middle of the road. Behind her were dozens of empty parking spots!
I gave her a long mean stare as I walked past! I was gong to have a verbal go, but thought why bother.
On returning to my car and leaving Bunnings, WTF! another 4wd blocking the left turn exist from the carpark, so left turning traffic would have to swing widely around him into on comming traffic, and what was this Bozo doing? He was sitting inside having a quiet puff of his cigarette!
I suppose it was Sunday, so all the Bozos come out.
And you wonder why 4WDs get a bad rap.

And don't get me started on those BMW and Merc SUVs, there must be a lot of "poverty packs" being sold through the dealerships. The ones I have seen lately don't come with Indicators, if only their owners had spent the extra few dollars and upgraded to the ones with indicators. Makes it guess work when behind them knowing their next move:mad:

"Bedlam", "Arrogance", or simply bad driving or lack of respect, for other road users.?...or whatever.
I see all of this, every day, with women dropping off & picking up their children, & their "use" of one of the access roads to our local Roman Catholic Primary School, in which narrow street, cars are normally parked on both sides of the road, leaving only room for one moving vehicle virtually down the middle of the road.
Well, for these women in their SUVs, & 4WDs, it's normal practise for them to just "fly/hurtle" down the street, if you're coming the other way, look out, 'cause there's no way they're gonna stop, and if one of the parked cars opened a car door, at the speeds these lunatics travel, there'd be drama, because they would not be able to stop, or take evasive action.
I've rung the local Highway Patrol, but never seen a car there.
My wife & I avoid this street during these times.

Outside our local school there are 3 different zones. There is parking except for pickup and drop off times, no stopping, and a kiss and drop off section. It amazes me that the no stopping zone is usually full of parked cars despite the fact that often one of the vehicles is a highway patrol car. No-one gets booked. The place is chockers twice a school day and cars double park with buses trying to navigate through a jammed, narrow road.

These are probably the same ones who park across footpaths or on nature strips because they are too lazy to find a legal space. A quick walk around my spectacular suburb and it would be easy to run out of fingers and toes to count these "dumped" vehicles. Council doesnt seem to care and the local shopping centre doesnt want to chase off customers .Just a further example of the " I am above the common herd" mentality some like to display

I hear you
at our local shopping complex, there is a large grassy area that thankfully hasn't been built on yet.
on teh rare time I go there on a saturday, there are often cars parked on it, when there are spaces, they are just too damn lazy / its too hot / its too humid / its raining
Oh, and it seems they are usually 4x4 with lift kits, after market suspension and stupid big tires

thats just terrible.....I can't believe that parents would want to park so close to the school to pick their children up safely.

None of this calm down bull****, its these morons that make it so unpleasurable to the rest of us to go out on a Sunday, i also find that the luxury SUV's dont seem to have working indicators since they are never used.
Nothing ****es me off more than people who dont use indicators to let the other road users know where they are going - i'm with you Mario, its common bloody courtesy.

Just to up the ante on arrogant driving/parking by the privileged few.
Some old "gentlemen" in a roller decided to drive up and down Anzac Highway in Adelaide last Sunday during the annual City to Bay Fun Fun.

The highway is absolutely closed to vehicular traffic while the tens of thousands of runners are present.
See here... No Cookies | The Advertiser (http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/city-bay/man-decides-to-take-part-in-citybay-in-rolls-royce-pushing-through-runners-on-anzac-highway/story-fniv59w0-1227065571110)

Fortunately the old fool has been interviewed by police and lost his car for 28 days I believe.

There's also some fascinating research in the USA on how the make of car relates to behaviour of the driver at intersections. The more "prestige" the vehicle, the more likely the driver is an arsehole!

Yep, bloody Jeep drivers.

On the way to the LR Expo on Sunday, I came across a Jeep Wrangler parked in the left hand lane of the M2 Motorway.

He might have been in a bit of bother as the right rear corner was on the ground, there was no rear wheel, and it looked like the axle was missing, too, by the pool of oil spread on the roadway from that end of the axle tube.

(Should this be in the "I should have bought a Jeep thread"?)

We all know that indicators are a foreign concept in QLD hence you probably dont understand what we are on about :p.

Try to go into a Bunnings with a trailer and park in the trailer only parking, usually full of non-trailered cars with plenty of single parking spots everywhere else. But of course you can't park in the single parks because of kerb and gutterung and Don Burke effects.

Same as Maccas, on major highways where tourists a plenty towing caravans but cars always parked in the van/trailer parking.

Just rude.

I must say however I have parked my car and car trailer in positions where the car in the trailer parking can't get out. My bad and apologies of course. ;)

Best example of selfish parking I've ever seen was a jap sedan parked in the middle of 4 parking spaces (presumably to avoid scratches).
PAYBACK - I was there with a mate & 2 cars - we parked in front & behind him with about an inch clearance in each case. :D:D

I would have stopped to (seriously) ensure they were ok.

Assuming it was safe to do so of course; Jeep drivers are people too.

Then got a picture before I left...:twisted:

There were already two traffic vehicles there with the lane closed and the variable speed signs were flashing 40. There was no breakdown lane so the Jeep was blocking the lane.

Had it been a Landie, I'd have stopped to see if the pax were going to the LR Expo.
