Gday All,
I done my first oil change and steel pan at 72,000ks and flushed it a couple of times in the next couple of thousand ks. I am now ready to change the oil again at 120,000ks and wondering if it should be oil and filter or just oil.
Common sense tells me to do both as this is the reason why you install the steel pan , so my question is has anyone done a 2nd service and did you do filter and oil ?
Thanks and Cheers Ean

My thoughts are having followed your previous threads that I would have changed the filter before this - my logic is that even tough you have been doing the drains and top ups most of the heavier particulates from before 74,000km would have still been in the system and being collected by the filter. I guess I would have done the filter with your last drain and top up - so yes I would do the filter now.
My local Auto guy has a view that I don't necessarily subscribe to but there is some logic to it. He advises not to replace the oil but take a sample and get it tested and on the basis of the results either change the oil or leave it.
I am going to do a test of the oil I take I do the next change to satisfy my self as well.
So when you change your oil, I would replace the filter and also get the oil tested to confirm your maintenance regime is working.

Gday Garry,
Im not a fan of oil sampling, as I feel 50,000ks is a good run out of 5-7ltrs so for the time and effort you take to sample plus the cost, change the oil and be done with it. I see oil as cheap even at the cost of lifeguard 6 oil prices.
I tossed up changing the filter prior but I felt that at 72,000 it was changed well before the recommended time anyway, so whatever build-up was in the oil I felt would come out with the 2 lots I dropped not long after replacing the filter and sump pan.
Anyone looked into where to buy the filter and oil ? I will ring ZF and see what they are offering.
Cheers Ean

Repco is actually a dealer for the Lifeguard oil - they source it from Motospecs.
Repco charge $38 a litre and sell by the litre. The part number is 749626-1 but they will need to be convinced that they sell it.
Cheers
Garry
