Yesterday arvo, I was driving home from the Expo and directly in front of me were the two trucks and trailers carrying the Land Rover Experience cars back from the Expo.
I thought "If only the Toyota Land Cruiser owners could see that - six Land Rovers on tilt trays and each of them carrying the sign Land Rover Experience. They'd agree that's the Landy experience alright!"
Unfortunately, I couldn't take a pic whilst driving but this is what the cars looked like so imagine them on the trucks....:

G'day Ron :)
There would have been a tourist at the Expo,"Muddy." who planned to go in his 2013 model 110 Defender (black with ARB bar and roof rack & terrafirma rear corners) before returning to SE Qld this week :D

What is that silly "terrapod" supposed to prove anyway? It looks like you could drive a Commodore up it. Is this supposed to show adventure and ability and "ohhh look what you could do if you bought one"? Why don't LR show pictures of them in the outback? I think I know the answer to that one.

I would have been more than happy to have that black RR LWB Autobiography dropped at my place with keys and papers.......
What a magnificent vehicle.

I think I know the answer to that one. When we did our lap, the main point of that part of the track was to highlight the benefit of the side cameras because there was nothing you could see of the Terrapod without them.

I was in the D4 going up that ramp. It is deceivingly steep:o::o all I could see was sky....
And the D4 was just so polished, whisper quiet and effortless.

There is another thread on here somewhere which showed a similar type ramp with a D4 going up it. From memory, by stopping and starting on it, some of the electronic traction control features were highlighted, which unless you were driving it, you wouldn't even realise the car was adjusting for.

Was steeper last year IIRC.
Wasn't a hump so much, more of two steep ramps and a flat bit at the top.

You should have seen how far a club member's standard D4 made it up the articulation ramp.
Modifications included an upgraded stereo.....
(The show room cars also went home on a car carrier.)

The ramp is deceptive, it doesn't look as steep as it really is. You have to be in the car to get the real picture. The D4 was very impressive I must say although I was disappointed to find out that if I bought one then I would miss out on the true Outback experience by touring in it.

Theses LR Experience vehicles etc look great and we hear about them often, but Ive not heard of them over here at all.
There doesnt seem to be any real promotion here for landrover, in my area I cannot recall the last time I saw an ad that relates to my area at all, (MAC ROVER would be on our Tv channel as it covers riverland all the way down to limestone coast area)
Unless there is a push for this gear, people will go with what they know and see and not be tempted to change... The Riverland Field and Gadget Days were just held at BARMERA, cars, tractors, headers etcetc all there, and a fair slice of population....but nothing to do with LR, a couple of cars - RR and disco and freelander for instance, stagnant display with info pamphlets would be better than nothing. They also have a display area (this year as part of the events they had a monster truck crushing cars, dog trials (over 1/2 found guilty :) ) and quad bike displays, a perfect place to set up...
It would be good to see some sort of push... people are complaining about the new nissan patrols, and about the l/cruisers,and prados great time to show the options..

im not really sure why all cars cant do that.
traction and hence tyres are the main thing i would of thought.
hill descent control is nice but without traction a bit useless

All 4WDs can't drive up an incline like the video because mud tyres don't have the grip,my L322 went up a climb similar to the vid on HT rubber without a problem,my mates twin factory locked cruiser sat at the bottom and burned it's hoops as soon as they took the weight. Pat

That's rather impressive... I was wondering about the oil level in the sump and whether the front big end bearing may have been beginning to starve on the way up... likewise for the rear b/e on the way down...

pressure fed oiling system, so all the bearings will get oil unless the pickup for the oil pump gets exposed..... then things get expensive...

If I took my commodore there, I have little doubt that it would go up there with little effort. If you seriously think that's a slope, you need to get out more .

My thoughts exactly. I just did a 3k road trip on the bike and did all the back roads through some major country towns in NSW. In every town, all I saw was the regular toymota, nissan, holden, ford dealers, but a lot of the locals were driving around in some quite expensive, high spec 4wd's. If LandRover got their act together could really clean up if they went after the cashed up cocky/farmer/station owner market, but a few years ago they closed most of their country dealer network and concentrated on the yuppie central city market which IMHO was a big mistake.

Hey tom, It's not the steepness, it's getting it onto the ramp without ripping something off! And owning a defender, I know what a steep hill is!

MAC Landrover had them there about a month back. I put a few greasy nose prints on a couple of them.

protractor on screen indicates ramps are about 20 degrees - 45 is hand book max for most LR models. The video is subject to camera angle and may not be as steep as it seems (still steep though, vid credits claim 45) - there are other vids same rock slope other brands.

A pic I took when I was in a new RR at Solihull in August. And, yes, I drove the same embankment shortly after.
