Check out the Ducati site and look at the new Diavel.
Pretty?
umm, no.
Goes round corners?
Probably not as well as a Ducati should.
Then Why ?
Apparently it's the FASTEST ACCELERATING bike EVER !
Got me buggered how yould keep the front wheel on the ground....

Sat on a Diavel today. Very nice riding position. The demo model was being "test" ridden by the boss at EC..ha. Light as, about 200kg dry.

Yeah ? It LOOKS a lot heavier.
It's a very "busy" looking bike.
What's tehhriding position like ? Full on sportsbike / sore wrists in 30kms set up ?

When you consider Hardly Davidsons are coming in around 300kg plus...this thing is so light.
Yeah, there is a lot going on, but it all just seems to work and blend, if that makes sense. The design and shape just flows so well. I've been looking at the pics for months, but seeing it in the "flesh" so to speak gives you a totally different perspective. It's not as big as what I thought it may have been. Having said that, it just seems to have this presence.
The riding position - and bear in mind I only sat on it as the test bike was otherwise occupied with the boss - was comfortable as. No bent over forward like sports bikes. Upright, but not like you have a rod up your arse, arms felt relaxed, nice seat height etc...
The 3 different modes allow you to tune/detune, depending upon where you are..so the combination of light weight bike and "urban" mode or whatever it's called would make it pretty good in traffic/city riding.
Ride away price for the Diavel carbon is about $31.5K  They are taking names and currently, the waiting list has blown out to June. I imagine there will be a lot of bad ass barristers foregoing their Hardly's for one of these :lol2:

Not a patch on the S1000RR BMW, producing 193 hp and weighing just 183 kg.
Go the Beema:p

I like Ducatis, trouble is you have to spend a lot of money on them to make them handle and go better.
Trust me I know, after years of racing bikes, they just don't cut it stock out of the box.

Depends what your are into though Baz...I have to say...I can pretty much see good things in ALL bikes - regardless of marque, type, purpose...whether it's a 1958 vespa, a postie bike or an adventure bike, sports bike, cruiser etc...they all serve a purpose and no doubt give the rider what they are looking for at that point in time :) I'm a bobber fan too just quietly :D

Hi Mick,
I was down at Fraser's 2 weeks ago but there wasn't one on the floor. The Streetfighter was easy on the eye though. My problem is I have to many bikes. I own Duc's, a Suzuki, Yamaha's and a Honda. I'm going to look at buying a Yamaha FJR1300 next week to use on a trip with some mates that's coming up. I just sold my 07 BMW R1200RT and I regret doing it. Might have to buy another Beamer if I cant find the right FJR.

Ridden a Desmosedici yet than Baz? I believe they go and handle quite well out of the box.
I also believe the 1198R isn't too bad either. I also remember a certain Ducati Supermono that seemed to go OK at Bathurst with a certain A Cathcart on it.

They have a couple at Concord to look at. IF you can get a salesman to come off his ego to come and talk to you :lol2: . I spoke with the service guys and they were great.
Great touring bikes those mate....a mate of mine bought one of these for a lap of Australia he is doing next month...

Hey Mick,
The BMW GSA1200... There is nothing more to say... Your mate will have an awesome time on that bike providing he doesn't drop it. My Beamer had the same engine, brakes & gearbox and they're brilliant. I will buy one some day as it would be highly advantageous on our farm at Mudgee.
As for Frasers in Sydney, I'm convinced that everyone there knows everything about nothing and nothing about everything... My dealings weren’t good and neither are the guys I've been riding with. They are notorious for damaging your bike through carelessness when it's in for servicing.
I usually get my mate Pete to carry out the work on my bikes or Trevor from the Motorcycle Mechanics in Helensburgh. Both are great!

Yes Trevor in Helensburgh is very good, nice bloke to talk to as well, I get all my stuff from him, when I get my act together, I will get him to re-wire my 1973 Kawasaki H2 triple:angel:
