Crash body slams Chinese ute (http://www.drive.com.au/motor-news/crash-body-slams-chinese-ute-20140923-10kxxr.html)

It is cheap but at the cost of protecting the occupants :(

Australia's crash safety body has hit out at Chinese car maker Great Wall for offering "inferior protection for occupants".

ANCAP tested Great Wall's V200 ute and found it couldn't match safety offered by five-star rivals.

What's the big deal... bit of chest beating by ANCAP and pointing their well oiled finger of scorn... so the Great Wall whatever shares a 3 star rating with the Nissan Patrol... and the Land Rover Defender doesn't even have a rating...

Question: how many people driving less than 5 star rated vehicles involved in crashes would have been saved if the vehicle had 5 stars... just asking...

The Tata Xenon without Esc is another 2 star ute .

i wouldn't trust the system at all,it is just a guide.

A 2009 Hiace is 3 stars,but a 2013 is 4 star because it has ABS standard.Same vehicle.

I think a D3/4 is also 4 star?

Back to the Wall, once again you only get what you pay for.

One thing that will really save lives,is the vehicle ringing emergency services once the airbags have been deployed.
This is mandatory for new vehicles soon in Europe,Ford announced recently many of their vehicles here will shortly have the technology as well.

If I was involved in an accident between a Volkswagon Polo and my International, I suspect I may be better off in the Inter.
I don't think any of my vehicles have an ancap rating.
