Hi all,

About to take the plunge on an MY15 SDV6 SE – White with rear air, Tech pack and 7 spoke wheels. MY15 also has Xenons, rear camera and hi-line as standard. Can take delivery in Oct. Can’t mention the source at this stage but given I’m trading a 09 TDV6 with similar spec ( Prem Nav, FPC, Hi-line, Xenons, 7 seats ) and with Bullbar, winch and snorkel, 86,000kms. Having a trade in of $41k and changeover of $92k – is this a good deal or should I be pushing a little further?

Thanks for any thoughts on the above.

For what its worth, the Redbook says about $38k trade in for a base 2009 D4 with 80,000 km. So $41k for a D4 with good extras sounds about right. I don't know prices on new cars.

One option is to sell privately, if you can go through the pain and hassle of getting a RWC and dealing with tire kickers and rude buyers. Ive heard some horror stories about selling recently. You might then be able to negotiate a better deal with no trade. You will probably get about $2k extra fairly quickly if selling privately, and might negotiate extra off purchase price.

Some cars sit there and sit there. Good cars (that present well, low km and service history etc) within the mid to low redbook private sale range seem to sell quite quickly. Just my observation.

Sorry to be dim but are you saying you are paying $92 on top of the $41 for the trade in which equals $133? Please tell me I'm wrong, if I'm not, laugh in his face.

$92-$41 sounds much more reasonable.

Deal has been done same model but Meridian sound ( the 825w premium version ) and 10 spoke instead of 7. Also corporate servicing. Selling private was not an option as it needed quite a bit of money spent on the ABS pipes etc
Going to be a long wait till end of next month but all good.

Nearly there! Trying to decide whether the LR extended warranty is worth the extra upfront cost over the very similar Allianz product? Has anyone had problems making a claim on either? $1300 or so difference in price. Got pds for both and can't make my mind up.

Be interesting to understand the difference as Allianz actually run the LR assist and extended warranty scheme..

I claimed on LR extended/Assist (Allianz) in July when the Turbo actuator went in Cape York.. I have got back so far $1000 towards the towing charge, $700 accommodation (recovery and repatriation) $560 Air Fares (Recovery / repatriation), plus repair charges (extended warranty) to find, isolate and replace the turbo actuator, i must be getting nearly all the $3995 i spent on the 2 year assist/warranty and another 14 months to go. I did not take it out until the end of the factory period, has the vehicle originally was on novated lease, i should have done it at the time of ordering..

DMP are you going on the D3/D4/RRS weekend, last time we caught up was when we both had Silver Sports at Jenolah with the D3 brigade from the UK D3 forum

Depends Zilch on how quickly the guys at Kembla get it off the boat this Thursday or Friday!
Expecting 20th-24th for delivery. Can't drive the D4 due to the recent ABS fault and transmission fault which bugged our Kimberley / Top End trip ( brake switch I was told when getting back to Sydney ). Also replaced the compressor when away and control arms on return so looking closely at warranty, though when possibly stuck somewhere like Innamincka with a trailer or Alice Springs at a dealer without a functioning diagnostics PC then warranty nor LR assist doesn't really dig you out of that hole.
Still the new car has more grunt, cheaper to buy / run and the dealer had been great to deal with on all levels - including pricing on the warranty. I remember asking at end of factory warranty about extended and no one overly keen to sell ( they want to flog a car not insurance ! )
