Ok though about sell her, but no one wants her. thought about looking for a 120, fat chance there.

so should think about doing something about faded and thin paint.

so ideas, i have googled pictures, not much there, not interested in camo, and that's to much work since she is red to start with. something different but not way out there like a flame job etc.

open to all ideas.

go to dulux buy some 4 litres of dulux metal shield in the sheen level and colour you want maybe a nice white.
plenty of nice colours on the colour card you will need the correct thinners.
this stuff is brilliant.no under coat required just be sure you clean the county well.
and easy to spray the the paint is industrial and super strong its not a two pak don't use spray cans im a painter do a lot of industrial and specialist coatings take your time get the masking right or strip the panels for instance
do the roof first just mask around the windows and so forth cheers

Get it wrapped!
Not sure how it works on the rivets but I've seen a few done and they look great. The beauty is it can be any colour or pattern you like, could even be chequered plate;)

I'm looking at a repaint too, on my badly faded red 1985 County. Don't want to pay mega dollars for a professional job, but I've never painted anything bigger than a rocker cover with a spray can.

I'd like to go with red again (mainly so I don't have to worry about door openings etc). Is the Dulux paint good for home application, or should I look at something else. I'm not going anywhere near two pack, but I'll try anything non-lethal.

Also, for prep I was told to get a DA sander to flat everything back. Is this the best way to go? In some places it will be bare aluminium so I suppose that will need to be etch primed.

I'm amazed by the results some people get in the "Members Rides" threads. Wish I knew how they did it!

Get some paint from Caterpillar, not necessarily yellow. Toughest paint i've seen.

Send them a PM. Most folks around here are pretty keen to share :)

metal shield heavy duty gloss or semi gloss, bullet proof can do a section and then recoat within 10 or 15 minutes once you get the hang of it you can finish a panel in one or two passes.
use the correct amount of the correct thinners, take your time you'll be right just make sure the county is clean and lightly sanded cheers.

try to get hold of a high volume low pressure spray gun these are what I use
might be able to hire one, something like a graco 3800
if you are going to use a compressor gun gravity feed are best. just remember take your time get the prep right.
as for fading colours back easy most good guns, the triggers are pressure sensitive cheers.
