Hi People.
Anybody wired their spottys up themselves on a MY14 D4????
I have the bi xenon lights.
Where does one pick up the high beam feed????
Are the D4 posative or negative feed????
Was talking to spannerman at work today he showed me a way of tapping into the fuse box if its posative feed.

There's a bit on the pick-up point here Andy.

I assume the D4 is negative earth which means "positive feed" to the lights?
Still to have a good ferret around mine and find a suitable access point between engine bay and passenger compartment to running wiring....
Cheers,

NOT NESISARILY SO!!!!!
Make sure you check.According to our spannerman who also is a auto leccy they all vary despite being negative earth;););););)
The wiring accses point is under the brake reservior, large grommet I read, behind it is only sound deadener;););););)

I take it you meant positive or negative switched? I have no idea what LR's are ( I do know my old 80 series land cruiser was negative switched:p)

You are onto it!!!!
Spannerman drew a relay in the dirt, depending on the switching the relay is wired differently.
What also I need to know is where the high beam feed is with bi xenon lights. The globe is on constantly,it doesnt shift from hi to lo like a halogen globe, instead a shutter moves and changes the focus.Im assuming the feed to the shutter is whats used for the spotty switching.Awaiting brains trust advice.

Pretty sure they are still positive switched. My Vogue definitely is.

I wired the spotties on mine. Not an MY14 but can't imagine that it'd be that much different. Does yours have "infill" lights in addition to the bi-Xenon's. If so, you can pick up the trigger power from the back of those.
All I did was use a voltage test light (there's one in the toolbag in the back of my car) on the wiring loom to the headlights until I found a wire that was live only when the high beam was on, and then tapped into that for the trigger wire.

From what I can work out Brian, highbeam is on all the time. The shutter moves in the light to give hi or low.No infil lights on the MY14.

I just went thru the 2 in car fuesboxes(behind gloveboxes) and the main engine fusebox.
Cant see ANY headlight fuses or relays:eek::eek::eek::eek:,not listed in the handbook either. There are l/r sidelight fuses and fog light fuses.
HELP!!!!

Attached is the wiring diagram for the driving light kit. May be of help. I'll try get a pdf of the relevant external lighting schematic.

The high beam wire supplies power to open the shutter to achieve bi-xenon high beam and to power the fill-in. There is no relay as the BCU uses FETs to do the switching so you will have to tap into the high beam wire. Use a relay with an inbuilt reverse current protection diode.

Thanks for that, that is a MY10 drawing.Did you get that from TOPix??? I tried getting in there yesterday, site was down.
I have PMed Sniegy to see if he can shed any light on this.
An MY10 would be easy, just get the pickup from the seperate driving light, mine doesnt have them.
On the MY14 with bi xenns the round light is an indicator, earlier D4s its a driving light.
Cheers

Not sure if I got that one from Topix. It is a complete fitting instruction for the OEM kit and has references throughout to 10MY & 14MY, but only has one wiring diagram. The instructions show use of existing connector pins and the addition of splice joints.
MY14 External Lighting pdf attached.

Andrew (LandyAndy) have you connected your spotties? I am going to connect my light bar tomorrow and am looking for some pics of what others have done and the High beam wire in the Bi xenons (with signature LED).

Any tricks or know how to unplug the light loom? Found the shutter lead. Could I just tap into the shutter and thus get the high beam function???

So it is all hooked up. Works great was easier than was expecting. Simply cut into the blue/slate high beam motor shutter and solder to it as the high beam 'control'. Now just have to wait for it to get dark to go see how good it is!!!
