I think we are in for a bloody game tonight both teams are playing very good footy. The bunny's have had a week off and should be refreshed and GI has used the week to get his hip right. Sam Burgess would have to be in top 3 props in the game. But the Roosters are the defending champions and are very well coached with very few if any weaknesses. But how much did last weeks game take out of them?

No team has gone back to back since to Broncos in 92,93 which shows how tough the competition is and how good the Broncos were. The Roosters are on the verge of something special and the Rabbitohs have been building up for a grand final for the last three years. I must admit i have a soft spot for the Bunnies so i hope they can do the job tonight.

Which way do you blokes see this game going?

Rabbits, Burgess will be the difference, Sonny bill has not fired for a few games, makes me think he is carrying an injury. But, if he does? It will be a great game, Bob

I would also like to see a decent crowd tonight in the so called 'Heartland' of rugby league in Australia. This might be the last game SBW and Minnie play for the Roosters so i hope their fans show them a bit of respect. Nothing looks more stupid that a massive stadium with bugger all people in it, So the NRL in their wisdom moves the game to an even BIGGER stadium so it should look twice as stupid.

I hear these two teams haven't met in a grand final since 1938. The pundits are also tipping a close and exciting game. I hope you northerners are supporting your footy code.
You wouldn't want real footy taking over.

Soccer is ok I guess but no way will it take over. Or were you talking about Rugby Union, the other 'real footy'?

Yep,every test match played at Lang Park either League or Union is always sold out. The Broncos can get more people to a home game than three Sydney teams put together. I am not sure what the rule is regarding home games in the NRL. Rugby league was a suburban game with the big games played at the SCG.

Call me old fashioned but the suburban grounds packed to the rafters was what it was about. A packed Belmore,Campbell town,Redfern oval, filled with passionate fans cheering there teams on. Instead of the stupid spectacle of 9,000 people in a stadium that holds 60.000 plus. Why cant teams play games at their traditional home grounds In the places where their fans live? There was a game in round 2 or 3 this year between St george and West Tigers at ANZ stadium that had around 6,000 people in the ground.

Between both teams there is four grounds they could have played at that would have been more suitable and cheaper for the fans. I love rugby league but some of the directions the game is taking leaves me very frustrated. And i think the NRL is underestimating the threat of AFL and soccer.

Agree, the game has been taken away from a lot of people, through cost of tickets, to access to the ground. By that I mean , Rugby league was a working mans game. Still is up here. Bob

You wouldn't be talking about that game where your not allowed to tackle properly,or that still rewards you for missing the goal? Or is it the one that has the all Australian team that can only play against Ireland as no other country has a national team. LOL:p:):D Just poking fun at ya mate.

The reason so many games are played at Homebush is that the stadium authority pays the clubs to play there. South Sydney got $300,000 for, I think, three seasons, to play there.

As a AFL fan, it is nice to see 2 teams wearing their traditional strips, instead of some stupid looking clash strips.

I didn't know that thanks mate, Sounds like cash before fans. So i guess Canterbury would have a similar agreement. I am sure a struggling family living in bankstown would find it cheaper and easier to go to Belmore to watch the bulldogs than going to Homebush. And i bet a packed Belmore would have far more atmosphere than a basically empty Homebush. The fans are what makes any sport great not corporate greed.

Atmosphere is everything, whether it be the pig pen at Bishop park or the hill at Shark park. The NRL needs to bring the game back to the people.

Well, 12-all at half time, this game has been everything a finals game should be plus a good dose of aggression. Both Burgess boys play that typical English prop game, nothing fancy just good hard running.

If you only knew what I really thought about AFL. Love it when you northerners get stuck into it.

Very good game, awesome. Sad way for minnie to end his time at the Roosters, same for SBW. I think what minnie has achieved in footy is something to be very proud of and he played the game in the right spirit. The word champion gets thrown around very easily these days but he truly is one. I must admit i am looking very forward to seeing SBW back in a All Blacks jersey.

The better team won tonight. Souths v Panthers sounds good to me.

My sister in law and brother in law have lived in Penrith for ever (he is a Penrith native) and are Panthers fans. I would prefer SS plays Penrith to Canterbury.

My daughter, son in law, grandson live in Redfern. She says at full time last night the whole suburb erupted in cheers and loud "Glory, Glory, to South Sydney"
