Ok I am here call off the search party and bring on the party girls.
Been a long couple of months, the story of my Fender is almost at a close and I will fill you all in on the one very soon.
Lets just say that my dislike of car dealers is now at its lowest point.
Started looking for a 2nd vehical but not with a lot of enthousiasm, but had to fly down to Perth the on to Bunbury for family buisness and while I was down there I looked a bit harder at the cars.
We have two car yards here and a choice that is very small.
Had a ute in mind and wanted a V8 as well (I miss my V8's), was leaning towards the fords because of the larger cab area, but was open to all idea's.
Long story short I found one.
Now have a AU series 3 XR8 ute with tray back not style sides.
Goes like the clappers as the first owner has added lots of good stuff to it.
Drove it back to Hedland after the family stuff was over and was even more impressed.
So now I have a Defender(story on it soon) as a play toy and a XR8 as a play toy.
I need a bigger shed 8O

I wouldnt mind an XR8 Ute, I would love a BA XR8, jeez they are nice. But due to price and popularity they are pricey on the second hand market. Now an AU, thats another story. A ford that many people said were ugly, as standard they were but the XR's with those twin headlights are really nice and with everyone trading up on a BA model there are heaps of bargains to be had. Good choice BB.
Oh, and welcome back. Matt

I will get some pic's soon, but totally agree, The BA was on my list to look at but just couldnt bring myself to part with that much money.
Never liked the AU as a standard style but I think the XR8 really stands out from the crowd.
Price was great too, better than I had hoped for.

I was looking at the XR6 BA, they are $35000 new, only 5k more than most of the XR8's when i was looking, and had just as much power, only one problem, its still not a V8. However you cant fit a baby seat in a ute, so the Disco got the nod, really what i wanted anyway. I would love a ute now, but for what i want a defender tray back will get the nod when i have the spare dollars.
Is it red BB? Red goeas faster you know. Cant wait to see the pics BB. Matt

Looks good BB, i didnt realise it was a tray back and not a ute. Another reason why you couldnt get a BA, they dont make them in the XR range. There is a guy here in lithgow that runs the local windscreen repair busniess and he had to buy the ute and then have a tray fitted, of course it cost extra, bit the purple BA colour with a shine chrome tray looks awsome. Not too sure, I know its long but it is hard to find an XR8 tray back anywhere.
From what I can work out it is a one tonner tray that was fitted after it was first bought.
Looks like it was a working ute, just one with lots of get up and go.

Has it got Cruise Control BB? This is a Licences best friend.
As for supercharging. There are heaps of people doing it. I read Street Machine Magazine, and the amount of people who buy a brand new XR8, or SS Commodore, and then go out, have it stripped, blown, new interior and new paint job is astounding. Where does all the money come from? Matt
