Dave et al.,
Hello and thanks for posting the aqua-snaps - I thought that was just the half-time entertainment for an otherwise interesting fine dining experience.
No-one is likely to forget the Rosevale Retreat AGM dinner too quickly, I suspect.
Cheers,
Neil

You certainly have to admire Dan's unflappable style here - No 44, your chicken dinner is ready..........
Be only too happy to have that man on safari, especially when things get tricky.

Well it seems the inevitable has finally come to pass.
Having a nostalgic google tonight and when the topic happened to be the historic Rosevale Retreat Hotel the bottom line was "permanently closed" plus a raft of reviews that hinted at the underlying reason.
Still, it was an experience and the place had a certain down at heel charm.
Cheers,
Neil

Now that is sad... what a terrific venue, and so close to home:(

Hello again.
Was doing a little more reading on the hotel in question and found out that the barman, known to most of us 2014 AGM attendees as Manuel (phonetic Man-well for obvious reasons) was locally known as Gypsy John. From all accounts he left the place with little more than the shirt on his back and may well have been one of several recent owners or lessees to share that fate.
Whatever the case, it may never be the same again.
On a brighter note there are plenty of SLOWworthy options out there, not least the likes of the Dugandan, Mulgowie and Cooyar hostels to name a few from the top of my head.
Cheers,
Neil
