Could someone explain to me what Geocaching is?
I Miss-Manage a fairly remote Roadhouse & had the bloke that promotes our tourist trek (Savannah Way) to visit today & he suggested that we might like to set this up as many tourist like it.
Only problem is I have NO idea what it is, how to set it up or anything.
Yes I have heard of it, we are not that remote, but now nothing more than it probably involves hiding stuff.
Thanks

What is geocaching? | OpenCaching (http://www.opencaching.com/en/guide/what-is-geocaching)

Not sure having a geocache would bring in hoards of people looking for it, but then again it is something to do while there.

Interesting activity for kids / big kids like me as it teaches navigation and can also be a way to break up long drives.

The one at Cameron Corner requires solving a few puzzles (questions) to find it: GCQ24Y State of Mind (Multi-cache) in Queensland, Australia created by richary (http://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GCQ24Y_state-of-mind)

Geocaching Australia - Free and Open Global Geocaching (http://geocaching.com.au/search/)

Put in Ravenshoe, QLD, there are a number in the area.

This is also a site that shows you how to register and start a cache and what people are after etc.

Registration is free, I have done it for a while and set a few caches up where I was previously living to try and give more options for visitors. (will send a pm)

Do it, its free and can't hurt!

(people look for something that will serve as a break in a journey, something historical or interesting - I love those ones that are unusual and show me or teach me something I would likely have never known otherwise.)
