I have definitely proved that my CPS is dying by pouring cold water down the back of the engine while it was playing up

I have a CPS on the way from the UK, part number ADU7342L, but I suspect it won't arrive until next Tuesday at the earliest, so I was wondering if anyone had a spare I could borrow for a week ? Happy to pay postage of course.

I just had a thought that maybe I could try a wrecker as well for a temporary fix

So you won't want my CRO now!

Glad to see you've found the problem, Steve.

Ron,

The fun is not quite over yet so you never know especially with an aging P38 :p

Steve, I have a brand new CPS sitting in my garage if you want to borrow it. Won't be able to post until Friday as I'm in Perth at present. Let me know.

Thanks a heap mate but my order from "Blighty" will be here before yours would arrive.

Les Richmond seems to have the best local price so far around $120.00 landed, or the guys in Kotara for about $180.00 landed.

I may well go that way and, like you, keep one as a spare.

It's slightly frustrating that I have a MOTRONIC one sitting on the shelf in my garage

Also got a spare. Travels in the car with me just in case ;). I could post it tomorrow but you're only going to be saving a day. Ideally, you need someone around Sydney.

Looks like you need to get under the car to do the job. Does anyone know if it can be done from above ?

Hi Steve
IIRC the GEMS (Lucas) CKP is a different design / position from the Thor setup. The Lucas version is accessible I believe through an inspection plate under the vehicle on the back of the bell housing... a few years ago Ron P38arover had to replace one as a result of a jiggered flex plate ... I seem to recall reading about it on rangerovers.net ... good luck!

SteveUnder the car unfortunately, N/S of engine & held in place with 2 small bolts. There's a spacer plate/block under the sensor too.

Curses! You could have picked up the SCSI CDROM drive from Steve for your Testbook. :(
