Does anybody here purchase service items in bulk? Fuel oil and air filters in particular.
And if i am servicing my 300tdi (430,000ks) every 5000km is there any negatives to using cheaper oil filters like these?

C1122X6 6 PAK PACK OIL FILTERS C1122 Z89 Z89A BUY AND SAVE % C1122 6PAK - Truck Parts and All Filters Hino Isuzu Fuso Mitsubishi Mazda Nissan Ud Toyota Dyna Delta (http://brettstruck1.mobile034.com/p/1166218/c1122x6-6-pak-pack-oil-filters-c1122-z89-z89a-buy-and-save-c1122-6pak.html)

Would the quality difference between these cheapies and a name brand like RYCO be significant? Or would i not have any issues with the shorter than normal 5000km service intervals?

Just interested in whether it would be worth while investing in bulk lots of filters etc.

I bought a bunch of cheaper oil filters a while back. They were 25mm shorter in overall length than the filters I was supplied from BOR.

The engine still runs. I guess the cheaper filters worked. But in the future I will buy quality and quantity.

I went to the link, and then proceeded to checkout to calculate shipping, which is $18 and change, which then totalled $45.67. Over 6 that is $7.61 each for cheap filters, and yes this is a good price ( I too change every 5 or 6K). I would save $4.64 on what I pay from my friendly local supplier for Coopers filters. Given the price of the oil, and the price of knowing the oil is filtered properly, and keeping my local parts guy in business, its not that much of a saving - for me, I will be giving the bulk buys a miss.

However thanks for the link Dizza, it was an interesting look and process.
