Well guys it's here style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif and it's sitting in the driveway not going anywhere, why i hear you ask well according to the RTA they now do random inspection on cars coming from interstate (first we heard) aspecially when we asked (3 phone calls) has there been any changes reguarding this, as the Explorer was bought from VIC 8O So Bambi the Disco has to wait till monday to get inspected  (not happy Jan) What about the blue slip  don't count it's the computer that selects which car, do we get reumbursed the $46.00 oh no we are really sorry but NO
What i'm most ****ed off about is the fact that we were not told about this until we got to the RTA with everything we needed to rego the car and would not have wasted $46.00 on a blue slip we would of booked it in to the RTA for today and it would be on the road now and getting it's snorkle fitted aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhgggggrrrrrrrrrr      crap crap crap crap crap crap
Aahh feel better now

Ahhh, bureaucracy at its best. Don't you just love the reasonable public first mentality that exists in the Govt departments.

WHAT!! why the bloody hell do they need to inspect your car? What could possibly be the sense in doing that? ..................you're not one of those "shadey characters" are you style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif I'd suggest you take it up with someone higher up as you should get some sort of reimbursement.

Well apparently the blue slip is still needed for rego even if the RTA inspect too, so you get a greenslip, reciepts of purchace, all of your personal info, blue slip, insurance details go to the RTA with all this, then before it can be rego'ed a second inspection (random we were told) by an RTA approved inspection station then you take it back to the RTA for payment and plates. I'm tired just thinking about it.
Baz.
If we buy the car in VIC and have owned for more than 3 months then transfer the rego to NSW we don't have to do this. 8O

Nah because we bought it and had it sent up they won't leave it registered, they take the plates off style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif
I'll spend the weekend measuring up the back for a set of home made drawers, i scored 3 sets of draw runners last week at work someone threw them out 8O style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif

The RTA are a 'special' bunch...
But look at it this way, if they were to clean out the RTA you would have these soles roaming the streets with nothing to do 8O Better that they are kept locked up at the RTA.
It will make that first drive of "Bambi" (whats with all the cartoon character names? ) all the more enjoyable!

All you do Baz, is get in and sit behind the wheel. Now close your eyes and just imagine the ride, before long the ambience of your surroundings will have you feeling at ease and in harmony with the world.
Don't worry about work, in the immortal words of Homer J Simpson, "someone will cover for me"

It will be sorted eventually baz. The RTA are a bunch or *******. When i sold some custome plate which i had had on hold, I sold them in the middle of the year. The hold fee is $454 a year. This is the fee wether they are on the car or not. Anyway, when i sold them, i thought i was to be refunded the $200 odd dollars which was left of my hold fee as they were only on hold for 6 months of the twelve i had paid for. Silly me, the person who bought the plates got the money and only had to make up the difference, and they had to pay $150 to transfer them into their name. How the hell do they come up with these fees, the RTA isnt required to do anything, the transfer take all of 5 minutes on a computer, how does this cost $150, and Why the **** do the people who buy the plates get my money? Screw NSW RTA - I bought my vehicle in NSW with NSW reg. I then took it down to Vic and re registered it down there.
Vic rego one inspection at time of rego ....ever until ya sell it, no ****** pink slip green slip crap, its all handled by the Gotv.
-like id pay best part of 6 to 8 hungee instead of 4 hungee to reg and insure my vehicle
Best of all I used to have a Vic licence and the vehicle is linked to that so when i move all i need to co is go online with my old licence number and change my mailing address... oh BTW to be legal the vehicle needs to go home evey now and then and as i have a property in Vic i get round the red tape - its easy to get a property in vic - nudge nudge wink wink

You get the same when you drive from NSW into VIC, the roads there are so much better. Even the country back roads. Matt

Amen WTF are they doing here the roads are crap to the border and then great and this has been the norm for as long as i can remember.
There are some that will remember easter and christmas hols trying to get out of Sydney the bumper to bumper traffic all the way to Wyong and even Swansea and south was even worse and Katomba well forget it. what has changed only past the border has changed.

Before we dump all the blame on the NSW RTA, it does come down to the fact that each year a couple hundred million dollars of NSW taxpayers money goes to QLD and the other minor States in an antiquated funding formula.
It jacks me off that every time I enter QLD they have cheaper fuel and better roads and NSW taxpayers are paying for it. I think I am getting off the main subject of the original post....

Spoken like a true QLD. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif
Population movements have nothing to do with the funding formula. The problem arises from the antiquated Federal funding formulas which penalise NSW & Vic to the benefit of QLD and the smaller States. The upshot is that NSW taxpayers end up paying more.
The bias in the formula is well established (and recognised by Beatty et.al) but the on-going argument is of the fairness of why NSW and Vic should be subsidising these States.

Dont mention the road works around katoomba and Leura. Its a pain in the arse everytime you drive thorugh there. Especially when two lanes merges into one, everyone has to forge their way ahead at the last minute to make up two spots in the already endless que. The only thing i have on my side is i am generally driving in the opposite direction to all the traffic, when i go to the city on weekends they are all leaving and vice versa on sunday. Matt
