Suspected oil pump issue after switch & relief were tested okay and, yep, shes goooooooone!

The two worst grooves are ~1mm deep :eek:

I guess this is the end for this cover? Is there a way to salvage it? There is a serviceable cover on the shelf so its not so bad but with the prices for these things new costing ~$400 I don't want to just toss it without asking the question...

It may be possible to reface it with some alu magic but I'm no fundie on metalworking. I recommend that you replace the pressure relief valve and spring while your doing the oil pump - they're not expensive and then you know where you stand.

Ignore the above - I see that it's the mild steel bits that are scored. You may be able to mill the pump and cover although I suspect they're hardened. If you can mill them then you'll need to ensure that the cover-pump clearances are in spec - this should be possible although it may require that you also mill the case to allow the cover to come up closer to the now-thinner pump gears.
