I just noticed that the air filter box on my 99 Defender is cracked. Its not terminal, but I would like to get it replaced. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with alternatives or if I should stick with an original replacement part?
Thanks in advance.

If you have some Sikaflex it can be used to seal the crack.

Thanks Craig. Might be my best bet.
I did my daughters air intake on the BMW as they want several hundred dollars for a new one. You can hardly notice it and is standing up quite well.
At worst it will get you out of trouble for a while at best it will last the life of the vehicle.
I am fairly sure you can buy small tubes now (I think I saw them in Bunnings) so you dont have to by the caulking gun cartridges. I used the windscreen sealant.
Cheers

I believe they are HDPE so could be welded pretty easily.

Hot melt glue gun. The high temp type. Seals very well as it melts into the base plastic.
Get some black glue sticks from ebay. Smooth over with a spit covered finger.

What about the super glue stuff that has plastic powder with it which is used to repair radiators.
