View Full Version : When towing a van.....

Just purchased a used, older 21' van for family hols, tows well behind the disco.
Noticed however that something was not right when doing the test tow. It did not feel right at first and it took the missus and I a while to figure out the problem.......I was not wearing the correct hat!
Is there a 'correct' hat to wear when towing something in a LR? I generally wear caps but was advised to go akubra, or even one of those funny jobbies like Dr Harry wears, or perhaps the lemon squeezer option ala Les Hiddens...
Any advice?

Regards
Ralph

i usually just wear my cap backwards.

but if you are that concerned i think a balaclava might be in order.

I wear an "Aussie All-Rounder" hat.
They are cheap (compared to Akubra) and indestructible - so far.
and made in Qld - the skin cancer capital of the world.
Contact them on 07 3807 1441.

(I am in no way associated etc etc it's just a good hat style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif )

No,no,no you must go to your local Bowls club, get one of their white jobbies with the black band around it. Then pull it down over your eyes, hunch behind the wheel, put your right hand indicator on and drive everywhere 20km below the posted speed limit. For added authenticity put a sign up on the back of the van saying your on uhf ch27 but don't answer anyone who calls you up. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif

He he he. My folks are doing the silver nomad thing and have a sign like that. I don't think they answer either. I just went out to the Rover and tried.

Of course, they are in Tasmania..... style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif

I've got one of them! It's funny how things change, if some one would have said to me 10 years ago in a few years you'll be trading in your V12 Jag for 2 kids and a landrover towing a Jayco, I'd have told them the were F**k'n deluded. But that's life and I managed to hang on to a couple of old Jags all be they a little dusty from lack of use, I look at them when I go to the beer fidge. I think it's time to look at them now, that 30 pack should be cold enough.
