Thanks for the photos! Monday last week I saw 5917 with steamboat whistle wailing, hauling the gin, carriages and a 49 on the rear as it rumbled through Parramatta heading East, then around 10:30pm 3237 came through Seven Hills light engine. The locos/trains had been stabled at Valley Heights after running shuttles around Katoomba the weekend before. Word is that someone put the wrong oil in the lubricator on Sunday arvo and it took most of Monday to flush the system before they could move the 32 to Eveleigh, hence running through without train.
A steam fitter mate who volunteers at Valley Heights reckons these Lachlan Valley locos are in far better form than the Thirlmere runners, pretty good considering LVR are volunteers with zero government assistance, whilst Thirlmere museum/operations is funded by tax payers!
