I need to replace my original gear knob. Anyone had any experience with the alloy types?

I was wondering if they get slippery and when you screw them on do they line up properly.

Could they get too hot to use in the sun?

I have a set fitted, they are threaded so fit better than the OEM ones.
Don't get hot but do get cold in the winter first thing in the morning.

Just put a heap of thread tape on the stick then tighten to it is firm and line up the pattern.

Cheers,
Paul.

got may two knobs from the UK......mine used to line up, but now its doesn't. I have now learnt where all the gears are ;);)

as harro says, they don't get hot but tend to hold the cold

Got access to a lathe and a bit of ally scrap? Dead easy to make.

I would. It would take me about 15 minutes after I dug around in my scrap bin and I would still have the $33.

I had Croytec.co.uk ones on both Tdi and puma. Will get hot/cold but wasn't an issue. The croytec ones line up well but you can easily add a little wadding to the hole before screwing it on. Definitely worth getting them.
