G'day all,

I was reading the latest copy of 4x4 Monthly (with the sweet Defender on the cover style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif) and came across the article where Roothy gives Milo a regular service before their Victoria trip. What grabbed my attention was the use of a small air filter for the diff breathers. What a great idea! Breather pipes are always the first thing you extend when prepping a vehicle for wading but I've never thought to put a filter in the line to stop dust from getting into the differential.

Anybody else done the same or something similar? Is it worth the effort?

I just bought $2 clear fuel filters with teh same size ends as the tubing i was using, and then ran the tubes to the engine bay and cliped them and the filters to the firewall.

Works well.

I've done similar as Dave, and works well. Peace of mind when in very dusty areas. And lets face it Aus is very dusty.

its best to used used fuel filters.

dunno exactly why thats is....but the fuel conditions the filter element or something like that.

also used ones are cheaper still!!

just go to your local workshop and collect a couple out of their waste.
