1993 Land Rover Defender 110 - Backward Glances (http://www.fourwheeler.com/features/1411-1993-land-rover-defender-110-backward-glances/)

Here in an article about the Defender 110 being introduced in the USA in 93. The starting price in 1993 was $39,900.00 and now this article estimates they are worth $60 - $80,000.00 mostly due to the low production numbers.

Defenders have reached cult status in the US since their import was banned.

Any price is possible regardless of actual "book value". V8 D90's actually have a register like Series 1's and clubs are keeping careful track of where they are in the world.

Recently met a Japanese gentleman from Tokyo at our club's annual event who imported a white NAS spec D90 to Japan from the USA. He's had offers "well over" $50,000 USD for the car to be returned to America.

Cheers,

Lou

I was too young and too Poor to aford the D90 when it returned to the states in the early 90's and have wanted one since. The V8 was the only engine option.

I've found them on Ebay.com from as little as low 20's with relatively minor repairs required (driveshafts etc).

Most of the ones you see with silly money have been "restored" or "retromodded" and heavily advertised. The price advertised may never be realised.

The prices over here are ridiculous... For a trac-ta!

$20k is silly money for something you'll have to put the same into, because they hid all the rust, etc. Or that'll buy you an ex-mod 3 door.

Defenders in the US are a great case study for economics.
