I was driving through St. Ives today on my way to North Ryde when I spotted a burgundy colored Defender 110 dual cab with a soft canopy. Unfortunately I couldn't take a pic .. but I did get a wave
Anybody in Sydney seen him before?? Must be the only one in AU?

yep, i ve seen it around. there is a number of earlier ones around with V8's in them. 1985 models i think, one lives in the eastern suburbs and has been seen by myself in both mudgee and oberon

Well for chrissakes:
1. Find out who he is.
2. Stalk him.
3. Photograph his Landy.
4. Get him to join AULRO.
5. (optional) Kill him and deliver the 110 DC to me. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

You sure Barney ... it looked very new ... as in 2000 model! .. ( :? or was it just early ..)

the one you saw was fairly new. the other ones are white. the one i've seen in the eastern subs, mudgee and oberon is an early one, it has some distinctive stickers in the middle of the front doors. they are a mambo or billabong sticker and from a distance it looks like a company crest

UK still makes the 110 dual cab, private import perhaps ??
on a similar note, I snapped some pics of a white 110 dualcab with a black canopy and disco wheels a while back on my phone, but I have no way of getting it onto the computer, if anyone can help in that respect i'd appreciate it style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif

looks more like a 110 wagon cut down to a dual cab
i don't think the 110 dual cabs have the skylights
coz a 130 doesn't have them

Don't think the Balck one has alpine lights - just a trick of the light.

more surprisingly for last July in the UK - it didn't rain that much, so it could even be the sunshine bouncing off that nice black paint work style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif

Hi Guys
Take a look at p131 of the lates 4X4 Trader mag(issue175 21jan-17feb)
There is an ex army prototypefor sale.1998,owner had it from new(5000ks),now 40000ks with army trailer.
Now the interesting point, when lookink close at the photo,it appears to be a 110 dualcab with a series style hardtop rear with the lift up rear window/drop down tailgate. There is a definate join between the dualcab/hardtop and there is an internal rear window.
Urgent sale,offers over $30000.

on that photo of mine, i think it's a shadow rather than a window. it doesn't look long enough and it's corners look a little sharp

i found another photo in my phone. in this one you can see it's a 110 by the position of the fuel cap and you can tell it's an old one by the door handles
barney
1st February 2005, 09:02 PM
and that alpine window doesn't look like a shadow, it looks more like a half-arsed repair or something

$30,000 8O Pass.
I'd like a 110 DC V8 - the tray would be the perfect place for a big bloody LPG cylinder to run it on, I'd just have to tow a trailer for all the gear.

Barney, the one you have the pics of had the black paint where the vents would be, doesn't that make it a 110, and as such, brobably one of the bicentenary bunch ??
Oh, and i've sent you one of the pics barney, if that works, i'll send you the 2nd one

It looks good, but a 130 would have just that little bit more room. So i will go for one of those when i win lotto. Matt

That last white 110 with defender doors looks like it has a external ribs on the roof like the countys and series vehicles.

Yes but 110's don;t have sway bars style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif
And besides if you were wanting to carry serious volumes of stuff on a farm etc you'd either get a single cab trayback OR a decent trailer for it.

So the 130 has lost them, youjmean ?
How does that affect insurance.
Still, I suppose you can't help it if they 'fell off somewhere' in the course of your off-roading.

sway bars are for on road use only.
real off-road vehicles DO NOT have sway bars.
they just make it cock its wheels.

I had another gander at the 110 dualcab I saw the otehr day, it's a 1996 mode, and looks like it may be a custom job. there is runners on the roof like on series vehicles, and the rear tub has no markings at all, no LR badges, nothing. but the interior is very tidy, so i'm not so sure.

Yeah i had narrowed it down to the 130 or the tray back. I would love the single cab, but the 130 allows me to go away for the weekend and do some serious off roading with the family. I eventually want a new Disco and cant afford to accessorise two off roaders, so the Disco would be for the light stuff and general family trips and the 130 would be the harder off road stuff. Not sure what i will do yet. Matt

I am heading off on Thursday to take a look at a brand spanking new dual cab defender, but it is black. Look excellent, but worried about scratches, as I will definatly take her off road. I had a 99 xTreme before, and the last 2 year without a defender have been pretty boring....
