I have wanted a Ford Mustang since I was a kid (40+) years ago. Dad had a 66 Mustang Convertible, that was sadly totalled in an accident. The whole family loved that car. He paid $2300 dollars for it, I suspect I will have to pay a bit more for the 2015 model.
With Ford announcing a factory Right Hand Drive Version coming out to Australia next year, I am seriously considering giving the John Cooper Works MINI the flick, and buying one.
The reviews sound good, but am not sure if I can trust auto journalists to tell the truth.
I have some time to think about it, as they will not be here for about a year.
Cheers,
Ken

Do they still run leaf rear end with solid axle?,good car if you want something akin to a donkey cart with a body on it. Pat

They even have a pipe to transfer sound from the engine bay to the cabin so you can enjoy more of the sound of your V8 whilst driving.

I would keep the mini, much more collectible. These Mustangs along with most that were sold are not special or limited. Mustangs are nice dont get me wrong but not that many are really collectible outside the Shelby's.

That was one of the reasons I was not interested in importing one in the past. (besides the cost) However there has been a shift in Ford USA's thinking, and they are trying to market to the world, and have realised that there are corners in their roads. Now have independent rear suspension, and they even had to re-design the front suspension as it was not up to scratch of the new rear workings.

I think that is in the 4 cylinder model (the HP and Torque are similar to the outgoing V8) they did that to.
Has IRS now, but interesting for the drag racers Ford has developed a bolt in solid axle to replace the IRS if you so desire to.
I would hate to be one of the few Australians that have paid in excess of $100K in the past few years to have imported a Mustang and to have it converted to Right hand drive. I can not see them maintaining any value over the 2015 model.
I know of a lady whose husband owns a Ford dealership, even though he is not a car guy can not wait to get his hands on a Mustang when they arrive.

I saw it on a 5lt V8 on the telly.

There will be a turbo 4 eco boost that actually goes well and steers due to the lightweight mojo. And the V8 for those who want pure grunt.
Pre production 4s were found to have subliminal sound systems to pipe a V8 sound effect by media roadtests. After much embarresment Ford removed this feature;);););););)
Im told the eco boost Falcoon goes as well as the non turbo 6 and handles heaps better.

She Who Must Be Obeyed (SHMBO) would aim for the cheaper model. On paper it looks interesting, and even the reviews aim for more spirited driving. I do have a mountain range to climb and go back down for work, and the turbo 4 is apparently good on twisty roads. I can't spend that kind of money, and always wonder if.....
The 5l V8 is the only model I would consider for this car.

The turbo four was fitted to some Falcons. I'm told they went well. I'm also told some people are getting them and installing them in old Escorts.

The review I read said the V8 was very good,in a straight line, even has factory line lockers on the brakes to do factory approved burnouts, how cool is that!!!!
All they need to do is get the motor up to aussie FPV specs!!!! We kill the yanks;););););)
The turbo 4 killed it when it had to steer.
Im betting the turbo4 will be the base model.

Like most Fords only good in a straight line.:wasntme::angel::p
Line lockers are illegal on road cars in Australia.

Mustang will be good for Ford Aus, as it is in other parts of the World where it is sold.
Turbo 4?,...a waste of time IMHO. If ya want "economy" then ya shouldn't be buying a Mustang.
Nothing wrong with a Turbo 4, it's a good engine,...in the right car. It was a TERRIBLE failure in the Falcon. If ya don't believe me, see how many Falcons have been sold with this engine. My info is that apart from those supplied to Ford reps as their company car, "hardly any" have been sold. Additionally, to get the same performance as that achieved by the Falcon 4L six, the turbo 4 had to be worked VERY hard, with consequential fuel consumption similar to the 6!
V8 "sound" in the cabin,....lots of manufacturers do that, including HSV!
Ain't saying the "new" Mustang will be perfect, it is what it is, but itll find plenty of acceptance with Aussie buyers.

My neighbour has a 2008 model (as well a magnificent 66 convertible) - I cannot see what is so great about them - just a typical amercian car - with the Falcon gone they might sell OK - they will certainly need to do better than the last time Ford sold the Mustang here in the early 2000s.

The new Mustang comes with a "burnout mode" setting which locks it for you...
