When do the timing belts/chains have to be changed on a D3 (2007) and can my local mechanic do the job. Thanks, Joc.

My advice would be take it to Land Rover specialist. They work on the TDV6 more often than your general mechanic. Front belt I can't see being too much of an issue but the rear belt from what I've seen is a royal pain in the butt.
But you haven't told us what motor you have, so if it's the 4L v6 they run a timing chain which I haven't heard of having a service interval for replacement.

Or 7 years whatever is the earlier.
That is for the two belts but the chains do not need routine replacemment.

Yes, 168,000km or at 7 years. Also replace the oil pump housing at the same time.

If the service was done at a land rover dealer, would this have been done?

Not necessarily. Would usually be at customers request. Calling the dealer who did the service to confirm whether or not the upgraded housing was fitted would be the only way to confirm (if you don't already have detailed service records / receipts). The part number is LR013487.

No - is not a service item but it can fail destroying the engine.

That might be something to look at then. Is is easy to see or am I likely to need a mechanic to look?

Hi Mitch,
You might check the service book, might get a mention, also if you check with LR they do keep a pretty comprehensive service record, might have been recorded as being done. Mind you 2007 V 2014 unlikely I suspect.
