no spark on replaced dizzy

G,day all. Recently I replaced a dizzy on my 1996 disco, the one with a two pin loom running to a three pin module mounted near the coil. The new dizzy has a three pin module attached to the dizzy body. Problem is the wiring. There is no spark when cranked although it does spark when dizzy is out of the block and turned manually, so its cancelling out some where. Has any one a remedy or a diagram as my mechanic is stumped also. Cheers

The two pin plug on your original dissy is only connected to the internal magnetic pickup. You will need to remove the ignition module off the replacement dissy to expose the two connections for the pickup. Then cut the plug off your old dissy and fit suitable connectors to the wires to plug into the exposed connections. Seal them with silicone sealant.

As an aside, why are you replacing the dissy? The pickup coil can be checked with a multi meter on resistance, and the vacuum advance is easy to swap.

BTW the 3 pin module is the same on both setups so keep it as a spare. Or go for a Bosch upgrade. Details here:

Thanks Ill give it a go, but i think the new dizzy has issues and needs to be tested.The spark seems to be intermittent and doesn't spark up under cranking speed. Reason for replacement is the old dizzy has stretched springs holding the weights, vacuum doesn't work has a broken screw in the body so top plate is held in by the other two and nylon spacer at the bottom of the top shaft where the weight sit is broken and held together with epoxy. Still runs fine just not as smooth as it should be at times. I would also be hesitant to take up north or the back of beyond say. Thought it would be easier just to replace the lot.Thanks again for your response and remedy.Cheers:)
