Got heaps on the plate for a while, i know its a long way away, but next year might be a possibility. Getting married this year, and honeymooning on kangaroo island for a week and a bit. Convincing SWMBO that a trip to Alice Springs would be a good idea aswell, might be hard. Will see how the winter hols shape up. Matt

Ive gotta get me down to see the Alice one of these days supposed to be about 9hrs from here. Youd love to know that i had some guy ring me up the other day concerned about a mate of his driving up through the Alice from SA. Seems he was a day or so overdue. Suprise suprise i then got a call from the Birdsville station about some clown who had tried to do the Birdsville track in a crappy old falcon with no water and one spare. Hed been stranded for a day or so with a wrecked car. Guess we found our missing person

Hey Mick-Kelly,
My sister lives in the Isa, hoping to drag my van and family up there towards the end of the year, have to catch up for a beer.
Leaving from Melb so undecided whether to go via SA and the Sturt (call in on tdi130DualCab for a beer as well) or go via western QLD (newell, burnett etc).
Any tips?
Ralph

Now that would be a great photo opportunity dont you think??

but on a more more serious note....it is a bit far for a bbq....
do you deliver?
i think if i came there you may have either a permanent resident or a new neighbour... i hate sydney. the lifestyle has gotten too stressful, all you get time to do here is work.

If this country wasn't so big it wouldn't be so interesting. However it also makes it difficult for things like this. Even being central, Alice is still 3-4 days from Perth.

not the cheapest place to live (I'll bet neither is sydney), but alot of job oportunities out here, although a bit of a lack of water.......

And HOT, don't forget it's hot out there. Did I say how hot it can get. Oh and cold in winter......bloody freezing in winter. But some great 4x4 camping tracks right by the back door.

Theyd both be interesting drives. The Queensland side has a bit of bulldust but some interesting little towns and places to see. That said id really like to get over and do a bit of exploring in the Territory. I might have to plan mjaunt out there one week. If you come up here dont miss Lawn Hill Gorge. Its a couple of hours drive North but its a magical place.
cheers
