View Full Version : AULRO's WORLDS BIGGEST BBQ for LAND ROVER OWNERS

With all the interest attracted by Individual and State run BBQ's/Meet's, I have got to thinking(yes my brain does hurt I can tell cause my foot hurts like a bitch  ).

Why not plan a huge big BBQ for everyone!!!! 8O 8O

I know a BBQ of this proportion would take alot of planning and require a large venue for all of us to fit. This is why any thing that is planned would have to be a future thing i.e. at least a year or so away.

It would need alot of group support and help directly in the arranging of the right facilities to accommodate a meeting of this size.

With the right planning we could have almost everyone from AULRO attend and get coverage from all of the major 4wd Magazines and maybe even alittle support from our friends at LRA.

Perhaps we could even make it a regular meeting every year or so at different locations.

I'm sure given the right planning this could be better then any old carshow. And given the BBQ would be set in a year or so it would allow even the most distant member time to plan for the trip.

Here's our chance to do what LRA cant and have a ball doing what we all enjoy the most DRIVING OUR LAND ROVERS.

sounds like a good idea...worth a try....nothing to lose.

only problem i can see is work commitments......but with enough planning and notice in advance even that can be overcome.

With this type of gathering taking into account the distance some might have to travel (ie) WA & Tassie members, it would have to be somewhere central to get the most attendance style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif

Yeah, i am in. If we plan it for next year. It would have to be in the school holidays of course, so myself and people with kids who go to school dont miss out on school time. How about the March April school holidays next year on the middle weekend of the two weeks, stuffs me what the date is. Matt

Sounds like I better start saving up for a deposit on a Landy that can travel faster than a Series or Trytoo style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif
If there was a large aussie wide meeting I think I would fly to the arranged state(on a plane not Series bus).
BUT if it just hapened to fall in line with Xtreme purchase time,I would buy one over there and drive it home style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif

No, it would proberbly be a little bit more friendly and more BBQish like if it was an AULRO gathering but around that time of year is good, not to hot not to cold (except at night of coarse 8O ) so school hols around that time eh style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif and that area style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif

The annual AULRO Moot.........from scouting days

I think Andy, around Harvey sounds like a good area, would take me an hour and a half and you even less, the series would make it in time!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously though I guess Alice or somewhere appropriate in SA would be good

The blinman 2005 albeit a geat turnout in its own rights isnt an AULRO gig and therefore could not be advertised as an AULRO outing.

The venue as already stated would have to be central to everyone in order to both make it fair travel wise for everyone and reasonable to expect everyone to turn up.

My guess would be to make it totally central to everyone it would have to be Alice Springs or ULARU.

I think the only way to make it fair is to either cast a vote for locations or leave it up to Inc after all if this is going to be an ongoing event I see it only fair that he should pic the first location( and if that doesnt work we all turn up to Inc's house until Mrs Inc tells him to hurry up and decide the place for the first annual AULRO jamboree.  style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif )

My vote is for either Ularu or Fraser Island

I'm into this idea! but I have to say it's bloody hard to organise this kind of thing. A few months ago Hiline tried to organise a VIC meetup and it all went to s*&t. We were keen but it's hard for others to organise and this I understand. Easy for me cause I aint got kids, just Land Rovers. In any case Im there for sure. Would love to hook up with everyone from all over the land. AWESOME IDEA!
