Was looking on Gumtree and found this;

1967 Land Rover Other Convertible | Cars, Vans & Utes | Gumtree Australia Ku-ring-gai Area - Roseville | 1057392562 (http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/roseville/cars-vans-utes/1967-land-rover-other-convertible/1057392562?utm_source=criteo&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=LF-automotive&mpch=ads)

Do you think is taking the micky at this price?

I do.

No - pretty sure he isn't joking! His vehicle certainly looks to be in great condition, original owner's manual, and known history..... and perhaps he has receipts for a $6000.00 engine rebuild - who knows?

I guess he needs to set a price so he has that room to negotiate.

We Land Rover people might still regard our vehicles as one thing, but the rest of the world is starting to regard them as desirable, collectable, vintage vehicles. My Series 1 is insured, after inspection by Shannons, for $18,500.00. The concensus view around folks I talk to is that it costs around $10,000 to do up any Series vehicle to a decent level. Maybe that means he's asking too much, maybe not. Not everyone can, or is willing, to do that work.

At the end of the day, he'll get what someone is willing to pay - or he'll keep it! :)

No, I doubt he is joking, but I also doubt he will get anything close to that amount. It looks pretty good in the pictures, but for that price I would expect somewhat tidier wiring, and a few pictures underneath.

My guess is that (assuming he ends up selling it) he will get something under $10k, but not all that much under.

But as Scallops comments - he will get what someone is prepared to pay, or keep it.

I can understand the replacement cost of the vehicle and emotional value of the vehicle. But you rarely ever get back what you spend on your vehicle (well I don't know anyone who has) I just thought that 16k for a series 2 landy that's not a rare model is a bit excessive. Don't get me wrong I am hoping the prices go through the roof, I have a couple of them :) but I didn't realise that they were going for these prices.
