I was advised to put this topic here rather than the travel section, so here goes.I am trying to track down a track that turned off to the left between Iron Range NP and Portland Roads up the Cape. Was there in 86 and followed it about 30 ks to a boat ramp on the lower Pascoe River, It was rough as guts but the campsite at the end was great, and a boat ramp had been cut thru the mangroves. The map I had then showed it, but none since do.Was up there last Nov, and a few times in between and there are various turn offs along that stretch of road but due to private property etc.. wasnt game to go looking. Does this jog anyones memory? I realise it may be closed off as they have to everywhere else up there, but I still would like to revisit.

If its the one I'm thinking of, its about 10km out Portland Rd near tip sign, travel past No Entry sign, past old mine site that has two series 2 landies rusting away (I have the very old B&W number plates off them) and a huge deisel engine and continue on a very rough rd to the head of the Pascoe River and ramp. Lots of big crocs out there and pigs.
By the way all the body panel are in top condition doors bonnet etc, if anyone wanted to drag them home? all steel bits rusted to nothing.

Sounds like the spot, especially the crocs and pigs. Was the boat ramp really steep and muddy, and not the most enjoyable place to be anywhere near the water. Sounds like access is still open, though the track must be s**thouse by now. How long ago were you there? Were marooned there for a week in 86 till we worked out she wouldn't start due to corrosion inside the plastic coated battery lead, talk about naieve. Thanks for the reply.
