was never in a rush to upgrade as I have a perfectly good 40ch

Anyways after a chat with a comms shop the other day he said its normal the distortion in the quality of talk between an 80ch and 40ch sets when they are on the same freq, something about bandwidth .....still wasn't convinced to upgrade.

Until I was given a brand new ICOM 400 pro the other day....the comms contractor I use chipped in an antenna package......

Looks like I will have to join the 80ch crew.....thinking of leaving the 40ch in the rig as well, a few times it would have been nice to have two radio on different channels.

Yep I just finished fitting an Icom 440N (the remote head) they are a nice piece of kit.

I bought it from a store in Melbourne who are authorised Icom agents, but they also sell via eBay. Anyhow, when eBay had one of their birthday sales a short time ago I ended up getting the radio with 2 RFI aerials for $370 delivered, reduced from $435 for the eBay special, I was happy.
