Hi,

What are the preferred airjack (Bushranger) lifting points on a Puma Defender.

Is a tank and engine guard a good option for lifting (I don't have either) or are there other factory areas I can lift from.

Cheers.

Hi,
I thought you only had to avoid the hot exhaust.

Fair comment. What about between the front or rear wheels?

Depends what you are trying to achieve... ;)

Ideally only try to lift one corner at a time, as lifting one side / both front / both rear involves higher forces and has a habit of getting unstable quite quickly... On the other hand this instability can be used to move off / over / around whatever it is that has caused you to get stuck in the first place - but be careful!

Under the axles is best for maximum height, but gets unstable fast if both tyres on the same axle are lifted off the ground, and the car wants to move sideways.

Any point on the chassis is good for lifting, as long as you stay away from anything breakable and/or hot. As defenders have a fair bit of suspension travel from stock, under the chassis may not lift the nearest tyre.

Rear cross member is probably ok, but don't load the fuel tank guard up too much. Lifting from here seems to makes the car want to roll forwards.

Front bumper might work, especially with an after market steering guard. Lifting from here seems to makes the car want to roll backwards.

If you have loadable sliders then these make good lift points at the outriggers.
