I'd put it with the compressor, that's where mine will go when I move my compressor to under the bonnet, best place for it if putting it there, I'm putting in the space under the cover on the drivers side in front of the brake reservoir.
At the moment my compressor is on the side of my rear drawers, with the switch next to the 12v outlet.

A bit hard to switch on and off when on the move. I believe D4s are front diff only at the moment so when not actually needed, they will need to be off so as not to cause issues with steering.

If we are talking an ARB Diff lock then the compressor stays on, you have another switch to activate/deactivate the diff.
Normally have a separate compressor switch but that is turned on when you think you may need the diff lock and turned off when you hit the road again. So access is not a priority.
Compressor is as your normal suspension one is, fully automatic pressure wise.

I'm just fitting a compressor at this stage for tyre inflation in the engine bay in the box in front of the driver, will probably install a waterproof switch there. But, if i do upgrade to a front air locker later it'd be better to have the switch in the cabin I guess?
has anyone tried a wireless remote switch? what current rating is required for the switch?
ARB are doing the work next week, and If I do go with an incabin switch, I need to tell them where to put it, so to speak.
cheers

I have a 2012 D4, I just mounted the switch next to the compressor. If diff lock comes along I will deal with relocation at that time.

I wired a factory switch up to a really to operate my air compressor. I pulled a latching one out of a wrecked D4. I think it was the hill descent control, and replaced the cap with the little air suspension piece. It took some digging around on the Internet but it is a factory switch right where I can reach it. Also my compressor is mounted under the rear panel over behind the right side jump seat. I keep a hose and chuck behind the louvered cover.
