I see that the list includes Ion Idriess. His book 'The Desert Column', and Bert Facey's book 'A Fortunate Life' give a sad insight into the horrors of Gallipoli (and WWI in general), as told by those who were actually there.
I don't put too much store by Anzac and Armistice days, as if those are the only times that you remember then you may as well not bother.
