Gday All,
I emailed 2 different companies 1 in Sydney & 1 in Brisbane about getting 2 electric roller doors made for my house and 48 hours later and still not even a reply or acknowledgement of my emails.
Both these doors need to be custom made as they are larger than average and we wanted the cyclone coded doors which they state they specialise in. Sometimes trying to buy Australian is so bloody hard.:twisted::twisted:
Oh well im sure there is a company out there somewhere that would like some of my hard earned $$
Cheers Ean

I had the same problem when trying to change my door for gates in preparation for the Defender. I sent off a lot of emails and only had a few responses.

Tell me about it. I've been trying to get quotes for new gates in my house in Darwin.
If I didn't turn up on companies door steps I still wouldn't have quotes. took nearly a month to start receiving them from the first company. Darwin s%}%s me trying to get anything done for your own property.
There is so much construction going on with the Impex and a whole heap commercial that no one wants to work on domestic. They either charge through the roof or just don't reply. A lot of companies up here won't even acknowledge a phone call. You have to put a request via email and then they still don't reply.
My wife was talking to a older lady she meets going for a walk. She wanted to get some top solil delivered to a block of flats she owned. $2500 she was quoted for one small tipper load.

I tried Sydney and Brisbane because I can get them bought up on our fortnightly truck we bring up for work, thinking I could by-pass all the locals who only want impex work.
Funnily enough my wife found the name of the bloke who originally installed the current ones, he is now retired but said he will try with his old contacts and see how he goes, told him if he wants to earn a few coins he can install them and I will pay him for his time.
Sadly there is a big fall install for local business when inpex stops.

So Ean, you're the go-to-guy for cheap freight rates? :) Ever thought of back loading landy parts from Brisbane...at a modest fee of course...the amount of money I've spent on freight. I smile painfully inside when people suggest 'just send back' the faulty part.
And how's that fire damaged 130 purchased going?
Shame Darwin doesn't have the population weight to carry on its own substantial manufacturing sector. Cyclone Tracy 47,000, now 127,000 or 2,000 people a year, yet Hobart has nearly twice the population but no where near the economic activity it would seem. Net migration of pop after Inpex?
Did you know we are not considered 'remote'. Those living on the great dividing range on the Vic/NSW border are considered more remote. Down to access to services it seems.

The 130 is still in the hands of the insurers so no further with that. I think it will be reserved for more than I am willing to pay but we will see.
We bring a road train up every fortnight, if you can get stuff dropped at the Brisbane freight depot, I can work something out. PM me if you need to discuss it further.

Thanks for the kind offer Ean. I'll keep it in mind for the future.
