Hi,
Has anyone fitted a hands free for their mobile to a D2 recently? I'm not a big phone user but I could do with some extra signal strength.
Come to think of it, where does the hands free get its signal from? do they use an additional arial?

I have a Bury CC9060 which is a great voice activated system, however it won't improve signal strength.
You need an external aerial to improve signal strength, most hands free systems will just use bluetooth to basically just move the microphone/peaked to an external source, the signal strength is then driven by the phones capabilities.

You have to have a phone with an antenna connection to improve the signal.
At one stage I had an 8 Db antenna for a ZTE flip, but it proved to be not that helpful, as although you could hear what the caller was saying , in hilly country they could not hear you, as the beam is very narrow.
After breaking the antenna I fitted a small 80mm rubber ducky to the centre of my RRC roof and that was quite good.
You can buy hands free cradles with antenna connections on ebay for current phones , but you of course have to be with Telstra for any of this to be meaningful.LOL
Modern stereos like Pioneer have Bluetooth and can play music or Pandora from your phone and auto switch from radio to phone on a call being received and have a USB to charge the phone. All you need then is a bit of Velcro to attach the phone somewhere to the dash .
That is what I have and am happy with it.
