So what are some brands of tongue and ball that will fit the D4 factory supplied hitch? Cost is like $250 for the genuine one.
thanks

Im yet to try,but was told ANY Reese style will fit.You can flip them to raise the ball height.Biggest issue is finding one with the rating to match the D4,many are 2500kg or 3000kg.

Andersen Hitch Stingers. When purchased from the US they are rated to 8000lb (3636kg) with 800lb (363kg) downforce in the 2" hitch. However the seller here, Titan Trailer Brakes - Stingers (http://www.titanbrakes.com.au/stingers.php) states 2200kg. Would be interesting to see what is actually stamped into the hitch itself, mine has the 8000/800lb stamping.

Thanks. So does anyone know what the drop on the LR tongue is? Suspect that the tongue needs to be turned upside down to be more level and dont know what drop of an alternative I'd need to buy.

Hayman tongue and ball for $109 from super cheap. You can rotate the tongue 180 degrees ir required.
Mine fit perfectly as it is.

I haven't tried my factory hitch yet, but being second hand it came without the tongue. Fortunately I kept my old one from my D2. Keen to try this flip theory though.

Depending on where you are in Melb, you're welcome to call by and have a look at the LR tongue I have. I'll be getting rid of it as soon as I can get the ball tightened on my Andersen Hitch Stinger. PM me if you want...

So what's wrong with the ball?

So what's wrong with the ball?
Nothing, I'm using an 8000lb Andersen greaseless ball, and don't have the tools to tighten the nut properly right now, when I can get to a mates place I'll do it...

So with the LR tongue can you tell me (if possible) what the distance is b/w the centre of the latchpin hole and the centre of the ball? Just trying to work out which length tongue to get - is it 190mm?

LR specs see to say no greater than 160mm so perhaps that's the length. Looking at a 160mm ARK unit with 3500kg loading.

dazray, does the ARK unit have a solid or hollow square shaft?
The reason I ask is that I'm looking for one as well and my experience with the hollow shaft is that the holes and the pin flog out due to the small contact point.

If you fit one of those Anti-rattle pins it tightens the hitch to the receiver and remove any movement so you don't get the wear at the hole.
