View Full Version : Strange actions in replies with IE11 Win7

I am experiencing a couple of glitches with making replies.

1 The "quotes" button does not work so I have been placing quotes in italics

2 When I want to edit a post, on the first press of the "edit" button a simplified button bar appears, rather than the post. This bar has the "reason for edit box " above it and also another edit button below.
When I press the "edit" button again the post comes up and is able to be edited.
3 When I wish to attach a photo, the "paperclip " button shows the photo, and if the photo is clicked on , it does not appear in the post. When the post is posted the thumbnail appears as per normal.

Is this a quirk of the actual site or is it a quirk of IE11? I previously had problems with formatting posts in Firefox which led me back to IE. It would seem strange if the site was incompatable with IE11 seeing it is the most used program.
I have now enabled cookies but that doesn't seem to have made any difference. Appreciate if someone can advise if I can alter IE settings to fix glitches.

Interesting Philip,

I am replying to this from IE11 to see if I can replicate your issue. Unfortunately it's on Windows 8.1 rather than 7.

Quote button appears to be working so I don't think it's site related and at least on Win 8.1 it's not IE either.

I've been using Google chrome as my main browser for a while now when using windows. Maybe that is an option.

I'll try editing this post in a second and see if I can replicate your edit issue.

Update: - the edit issue did happen to me too using IE11

I was able to stop it happening though by adding AULRO.com to your compatibility settings in IE.

If you look at the top of your IE window, do you have menu headings under the address bar - i.e. File Edit View etc.?

If not, press "Alt" and they should appear.

Go to the tools Menu > Compatibility View settings

Add aulro.com

You will probably have to re log into Aulro after doing this... but hopefully that will fix at least your editing problem and possibly the quote issue as well.

Let us know how you go.

AhaWell that was it by the looks.

So does this mean that the site is not compatable with IE11?

I have never come across this problem before, so maybe we should advise Incisor.

I'll make sure INC is aware Philip, but it's more to do with IE's implementations of "security"

One of the frustration things from an IT point of view with IE is that Microsoft often do their own thing... rather than sticking to accepted standards.

But that is exactly why they built in that compatibility mode feature.

From past experience, the site works perfectly on Chrome, Firefox and opera on Windows, as well as Safari, Chrome Firefox and Opera on Mac.

So I'd be putting the blame on IE rather than the site.

Did you manage to add the site to your compatibility settings?

Yes, no problem now.
