From the three Rs to a few Fs. How things have changed in the classroom. The dropping of the F-word by a grade one teacher in front of the class has sparked an explosion of support for the teacher from hundreds of mums on a Queensland based Facebook page. And Queensland Teachers Union deputy general secretary Kate Ruttiman says that while there has been cases of teachers cautioned for the repeated use of the F-word,a one-off slip by an educator is simply "human" and they should not be punished. The post on School Mum Facebook, which has 214,000 followers, said:"My grade one daughter came home from school a couple of days ago and told me a teacher said the naughty word. After investigating further it turns out she was referring to the four letter F-word. I was shocked, stunned and furious." But most mums rushed to the support of the teacher with floods of posts like-"Let it go she's human after all." "It shouldn't require a punishment. It's just a word."
"Yes teachers are human and make mistakes." "I wouldn't want their job." "Iv'e heard more foul-mouthed words coming from kindy kids." Ms Ruttiman said:"Of course teachers are role models for children but they are also human. We all slip up and it depends on the circumstances. But i am pleased to see that parents understand and support a one-off mistake." But social commentator David Chalke is not buying the "let it go" tack. "Teachers are supposed to represent the best in our society. They are supposed to be able to spell,to punctuate,to do mental arithmetic and model good manners for their pupils. Dropping the F-word is not good manners," he said.

Gee,some people are just dead-set whingers. While i would not want my kids educated by a teacher who swore non-stop,I would not be outraged by a one-off mistake. In some ways I feel society is caving in to sooking bleeding hearts.

The f word that we are not allowed to talk about.
Fun.

Seems kids these days aren't allowed any.

Is this thread a subtle test of the "dodging the swear-filter" rules?

Many, many moons ago Mrs V8 and two other ladies formed the executive of the Mothers' Auxiliary at the school that our children attended. One of the Women, we'll call her *Mrs B, had her feet firmly planted on the ground, as did Mrs V8. The last of the trio was widely referred to as 'Fluffy', by many in the small community, because she was such as air head. Lets call her *Mrs F.
Executive meetings took place at the office bearers' houses on a rotational basis. A meeting was being held at the home of Mrs F, who was a terrible snob. The three ladies were conducting their business under a gazebo in the swimming pool area of the corner block, when Mrs F complained that her family could not enjoy the gazebo or pool area on weekends. Below is quoted verbatim the justification.

"The rough boys walk past using disgusting language, including the eff word, I really don't know why they can't say 'break wind'.".

Mesdames V8 and B could hardly contain their hilarity.

Back on track, I'd be pretty peeved if my kids heard a teacher swear. My kids, all adults now, have never heard me swear.

*Names have been disguised to protect the usually guilty.

It only takes a small amount of self control not to swear so you have ask how close was the teacher to losing all control:)

That is precious, Ian.

When in the right company I swear my head off including the C bomb. When I am amongst women, including my wife, I never use the F and C bomb's.

I have self control over it. If this teacher dropped it by accident this tells me he/she probably uses it all the time out side the class room.

I know that it is common vocabulary with young ones these days, but I don't like it. Call me old and old fashioned but this is just a small part of society's problems these days.

Moral standards are just slipping away.
