From Goulburn is all downhill - plenty of boats and caravans go down Clyde Mountain without issue. There are plenty of upgrades but still a couple of tight bends - good brakes on car and trailer and a willingness to use lower gears will see you right.
Where you headed - if up Nowra way then go down via Kangaroo Valley (same steep issues) or via Nerriga Road.
If going down Bega way then down to Cooma and across - again a steep bit to get to the coast.

Haven't been on it for a while but a work mate tows on it almost daily with no dramas . It has a very un deserved reputation mainly from the morons that drive on it there are far worse roads around then that one. Hope your not going to batmans bay that joints a serious hole.

Hey you might find you like the place many people do but I personally would rather repeatedly poke my self in the eyes with a screw driver just my opinion is all. But if you continue south from there you will find many Interesting places to sticky beak around.

Pedro, when you get to Moruya give us a call 0407103320 or PM, I'm rebuilding my trucK (ACCO inter Tow Truck), should be able to show you some sights, 460 is right Batemans Bay is a Tourist trap.
Moruya North Head has one of the best Caravan /Camping areas right on the beach and the entrance to Moruya River
Better still is Congo Camping area, magic, ask Steve223, Regards Frank.

You'll be 'right which ever way you go Pedro. There are no dangerous roads in this country, if driven to the conditions, driver and vehicle capabilities. Do not allow others to push you faster than you feel safe or comfortable.
As to your original question, years ago with a wide load, steady, steady with no problems.

safe and sound in Moruya:cool:
Heading West to East the top of Clyde Mountain comes up unexpectedly soon:o:cool:
From there, there are two distinct downhill sections,, the first was done in first gear, run up to 3grand, stomp on the brakes and repeat as necessary, never a concern really. (A whole 18 degrees outside with an engine temp of 82:cool:) the second was much shorter and done in second.
The whole 240 odd kays was a pleasure:D
