I was fortunate enough to take Terry O's V8 D4 for an extended road test this arvo, and while it doesnt quite light the tyres off the line it does go quite well:angel:. I think it lacks a bit of punch over 160 though,,,,,:wasntme:

all this with the owner playing with the stereo from the nav seat:lol2:

why would I buy it now after I've thrashed it??:whistling::tease:

Good to hear you are having a good time Pedro :D

It's certainly a fun car...

You wish Pedro! ... the D4 is not for sale.

I actually let you drive the D4 so later when you finally get a chance to drive a TDV8 RRS (that you seam so hell bent on) you will know first hand that the Rangie is an inferior vehicle to the mighty V8 D4. ... ;)

And by the way if you had wanted to go faster than 160 clicks then you should really have shifted up to at least fifth gear. ... ... :p

When you catch up over here Pedro you can have a crack in a 3litre oilburner.
I think you will be impressed with its punch off the line, and its only the baby V6;););););)

SDV6 is quicker than TDV6 and either way that 8 speed box is fantastic. I haven't redlined mine but I do know it goes very, very fast at under 4000rpm. There's also that wonderful feeling of leaving cars behind at the lights or is that just from driving a Defender?

If they'd put the TDV8 in a D4... mmmm

Its such a great engine,, you'd think more companies would use it:confused:

I can vouch for the SDV6 having acquired one in the last few weeks and got a ticket :o and had the "pleasure" of doing a few hours with No 2 son at the wheel on his learners :eek::eek::eek: There's only so many high speed launches into roundabouts a bloke can take....

Terry kept banging on about the TDV8's service costs, (not that i could hear him over his terrible music,, Wings?? really??:Rolling:The stereo sounded ok though--) about how everything is " body off". I'm not sure we hear enough on here to make that judgement,, yet.

Pedro you should buy what ever you think is best for you and if that's a sooky old common TDV8 RRS then enjoy.

After seeing how you drive I'm not sure you could really handle a V8 D4 anyway. ...

Have a nice day. ... :)

Terry I would be happy to let you race me in my RRS SDV8 I would even give you a head start so you get a chance to see the front grill before I blast past you and all you see is the rear of the sports. :p

A SDV8 is the engine in the new light weight RRS if I am not mistaken? We were talking about the older TDV8 RRS's but never mind.

However if you want a race I'm sure my wife in her little 6.2 litre HSV wouldn't mind having a bit of a play at some traffic lights if you feel up to it. ... ;)

I wondered how long it would take for you to join in Tombie. ...;)

So its bike time! .... I can do that to easy ... :p

Anyway enough of this who has the bigger appendage (even though I started it) lets get back to bagging out Pedro's preferred choice of LR. Or more to the point just bagging out Pedro in general. ... :o

I only race other landrovers or if I get the chance prado and patrol drivers who think they have a chance, even my old TDV8 would eat them up but the new SDV8 leaves them wondering what happened

If I may ask a question Pedro, is it really important? ... ;)

But incase it is here is little video clip of how all three go, first up is the 5.0 litre D4. ... :p

Looks like he backed off though at 200 kph that is unless they are speed limited to that, also he just accelerated away from idle.

...

This is the best one I could find of the TDV8, can't see at what rpm he is shifting at though.
...

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xA9YK8SUdGs

The SDV8 is impressive even though he had it at 2000 rpm when he let his foot off the brake, that is unless they have launch control?

Confine the race to urban speed limits and light derbys and it won't be all that bad :p

I can certainly stay with our L77 powered Calais from one side of an intersection to the other ... after that all bets are off ... and I'd take either of them on in my little car on a twisty downhill road (100hp, 750kg + Koni + Pirelli = I'm winning in the fun stakes at very least). :wasntme:
Andy, having a big motor with a hairdryer is not exactly playing fair ;)

My old man pushes a signature black edition vogue, damn things got 5L supercharged under the bonnet, it likes to spin all four wheels on take off...it gives most sports cars a run for their money
