good day all i am a tad stuck started the old girl up after changing a few copper washers backed out of the garage and it died ive gone through every bit of wire possible and nothing wrong there i lost the spark so i took the condenser off and checked the Resistance it had none i asked dad and he tried putting voltage through it but nothing (ps i dont like electricity ;) its scary ) so we came to the conclusion that is whats wrong i just wondered if anyone else had any ideas

James,
Plug every thing back in and start checking from the spark plugs back. 
1. remove no1 spark plug, connect the ht cable, lie the plug on the head so that the thread touches metal and crank the motor with the ignition on. You should see a health blue spark jump across the plug gap.
2. if no spark is seen check the distributor cap and rotor. Take the distributor cap off. If you have taken it off it may not have gone back on correctly. check the rotor to make sure it is not broken of cracked. Do the same for the cap but do not remove the plug leads from the cap.
3. if this is all ok check the wire that runs from the coil to the points. Make sure it is not broken (it could have been damaged when you took the cap off) and that the insulation block between the wire and the distributor is ok. inside the distributor make sure the same wire is not broken and that it is secure onto the points. The wire should have small nylon washers between it and the threaded post it connects to.
4. Clean the points with a points file (or a fine emery board) and check the points gap is set to 0.40mm
5. if in doubt replace the condenser. They either work or they don't. The condeser is connected to the same threaded pole as the points and also insulated from the pole itsef with the same 2 small nylon washers.
6. Make sure you have 12v at the coil +ve pole with the ignition on.
7. make sure all your plug leads are connected correctly and in the correct firing order on the cap. This wont have changed if you haven't taken them out. 
If all this works she should fire up.

Good day phil i have power from coil wire but none at points or condenser so I'll end up changing it and seeing if that works

Hi James,
The wire from the coil (negative) to the distributor makes the coil "fire" to the ht side of the distrubutor through the ht leads if that makes sense.
You should have continuity from the points when they are closed to the -ve on the coil.
If this circuit is ok and you have 12v at the +ve on the coil the coil is suspect IMO.

The coil is less than 2 months old I hope I havnt buggered it up (ps sorry if that's swearing) the battery was low so that's on charge ATM going to Check all voltages cheers again James

Take the cap off the dissy, check that the carbon contact and spring in the cap are intact and working.
Remove the coil HT lead off the dissy cap and check if it has spark by shorting the low tension lead from the coil to earth.  If you get spark at the HT lead, you know the coil is O.K. then work forward from there.

ok a bit of an update i forgot to mention a few things its a new coil that has a resister needed so we put that in and that has 12.6 going in one side and 5 coming out into the coil so only 4.6 out of the main ht lead terminal but i have nothing coming out of the negative side of coil I NEED A AUTO SPARKY BUT IM TOO POOR lol ill try and add a few pics later but im :censored::censored::censored: at it :p

Has your car got Pos.+ or Neg - earth ?  .W.

The HT lead should have thousands of Volts.
Firstly is your car Negative ground?
If yes: 
 Put 5V-7V power from "Ign" to the coil "+" terminal.
 fit a wire to the coil "-" terminal and bare the end of the wire.
 Fit a HT lead to the HT terminal and place the other end close to the block of the engine leaving a small air gap in a place where you can easily see it but shaded from direct sunlight.
 Grab the wire you attached to the "-" terminal and just touch it to the block of the engine while looking at the end of the HT lead.
 You should see a bright spark jump from the lead to the block every time you touch the "-" terminal wire to ground.
If your car is Positive ground, you probably have the wrong type of coil.

HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY JAMES 
finally found out what was doing it the wire from coil to distributor had one stray strand of wire touching some were its shouldn't of been touching  and making the whole dissy live after fixing that it started up straight away not very well but running sweet as after adjusting points (forgetting to turn ing off so very hurty) next thing left to do is see if oil leaks are fixed :) also carb overhaul :) thank you all alot for helping me :) i wish i could buy you all a drink but theres allways time :)
