Refer to :- Civil Aviation Safety Authority - Consultation Draft ? CD1425SS (http://www.casa.gov.au/scripts/nc.dll?WCMS:STANDARD::pc=PC_102279)
Only five hours into my RA-Aus Pilot training and it's not looking too bright for hour number six.:mad::mad:
It seems that the rate of Jabiru engine failures has reached epidemic proportions, and CASA intends to save us all... by effectively grounding all Jabiru - powered aircraft except those flown by fully-qualified pilots -and under limiting conditions.
Since between half and (more like) two-thirds of all RA-Aus. flight training is conducted in Jabiru powered aircraft... this would impact heavily on these organizations, and Recreation Aviation in general.
My information is, - correct me if I'm way off - is that there were +90,000 Jabiru flights so far this year, of which 0.03% have involved an engine incident of some sort.
This makes less than 30, our of 90K, and no fatalities from these.
Am I paranoid, and this edict a bit heavy-handed, - or are there other factors driving CASA's reactions ?
