Just bought this at auction in Brisbane. Picking her up on Monday;)
Super excited hopefully going to pimp it out as a hardcore 4x4 and camping vehicle for the family.
Are there any threads about must do or suggested mods for these babies guys:confused:
I hope the pic turns out!

Yes. Add a snorkel and a turbo. King springs, stainless exhaust and 33 inch Michel T's. Get 4 seat belt put in the back each side if it has seats and have it complied... Enjoy

Also pick up a number 5 trailer and bolt a caper ten to it for the full package. Also meant to mention sunny wheels.

The beauty of them is you don't have to do anything.
They are already a hardcore 4x4.
Comfort however is where you can spend some money (power steering, seat covers, two way, stereo, fridge, water tank etc). up to you how far you go.
BTW there have been 2 acticles here recently regarding trips to the Top End and The Simpson in standard Perenties.
Have a look in Coil Sprung Ex Mil. Vehicles.

Congrats on the purchase.
Don't think i'd go wide wheels until the power steering is installed. I had them on mine when first purchased though is much easier to drive on the original 750's. They will go back on once the PS is in however.

Thanks dudes I'm crazy excited about this thing. I remember crashing through bush in them with the Army a long long time ago!
Looking forward to finding those threads about the trips across the Simpson and up to the top end:D
I've been hitting the gym so hopefully I wont have to pay for power steering!!!

To me it's more about getting out of parking spaces :D

Really, the only time I have longed for PStr was in the carpark under a club. 3 levels down...
1. rolling up the sides makes for excellent vision when reverse parking.
2. read lots of perentie threads:
eg
Perentie: REMLR forum helpful threads (http://www.camerajuice.com/remlr/perentie-helpful-thread-list.html)

Excuse my ignorance but what is a caper ten? I have a No 5 trailer.

Picked it up and drove straight home from the Auctions on a permit. Passed a RWC that day no worries. She's a noisy old girl but seems to run really well:)

They are noisy for sure. Exactly zero soundproofing sees to that.
While some have added soundproofing and other insulation, I have taken a different path to prevent my ears from bleeding by the time I get to work each morning.
I have surgically combined a set of $20 PPE earmuffs with some $10 slimline, phone call compatible headphones. I detached the headphone speakers from their headband and hot glued them inside the earmuffs.
I now have tunes from my phone without having to max the volume.
This solution came about after I walked away from all the c. $300 ENC headphones, then briefly considered an aviation headset, dismissing this as still too expensive and also incompatible with my phone.
As a bonus, the numerous Perentie rattles and the drone of the Goodyear Hi-milers no longer bother me.

Fair point, however if you suffer from Perentie induced hearing loss, you won't be hearing those sirens anyway.
I SAID YOU WON'T ... Oh forget it.
These muffs only attenuate ambient noise by around 20dB. So you can still hear sirens.

Haha...
True, I must have been cocooned in my latte mobile a little too long...;)
The key point they reduce the engine and road noise that previously stopped you hearing the ambos anyway :D
Glad you have great vision out of them. One of these days I will join in the fun....
