As a bus driver, we are faced with idiots like this quite often. Have a look at this shocking video of a bus driver from one of our depots being set upon by a moron who is drunk and drugged. The bus driver was attempting to remove him from the bus because of his filthy language and drinking alcohol on the bus which is against the law.

Amended link as video is deemed too violent, just goes to show what these drunk/drugged mongrels are capable of.

Waratah - Raymond Terrace says it all - I though Windale might have got a mention as well.

Such behaviour is just not acceptable but happening more often.

The high point is that it would seem the guy in black came to the drivers aid - that also happens not as much as it should.

He probably grew up in the era of "Children have rights, they can do no wrong" but those children grow up,and a % become feral adults

Can someone please explain to me how being drunk or on drugs is an excuse for violent, obnoxious & bad behaviour?

If you are drunk & turn violent it is your fault! Nobody forced you to drink or take drugs so how is that some sort of excuse?

It's like these Coward Punches, oh I was drunk so I should get off, sorry, you killed someone, you should be charged with murder, not manslaughter or grievous.

I get drunk occasionally, I don't go around assaulting or killing people (I usually fall asleep) or even looking for a fight, though I sometimes get 1 from SWMBO.

Just seems stupid to me that drink or drugs are somehow culpable but not the idiot that consumed them.

Thankfully it is not - about 40 years ago the defence of being drunk was struck from the books and can no longer be used as a defence.

After witnessing this and the cowardly assault of the 86 year old pensioner who was coward punched and robbed after being lured into a carpark I would like to know what the authorities and governments around the country are going to do about dealing with these animals.

I have had enough of the wishy washy society is to blame NIMBYs making excuses for these morons.

What was this bloke doing out if he had a history of violence? If the magistrate or parole board think these imbeciles are OK to let out into society, they should put them up at their place and go guarantor for them.

Before we hear, "but we have a system and they are entitled to their rights" diatribe, what about the rights of the bus driver who was simply doing his job and trying to do something about the moron making law abiding citizen's bus ride a misery.

The reason he kept up the attack was not just the drugs, it was the fact that his previous convictions and sentencing offered nothing in the way of a deterrent.

Bring back hard labour and chain gangs. There are plenty of environmental projects like removing noxious weeds along watercourses and bushland or removing litter and dumped rubbish from bushland instead of sitting in jail, getting tattoos and working out in the gym.

If I was a bus driver or one of those attacked, if the DH had been identified he would be waylaid in the dark and left a bit bent and broken.
It has always worked in the past.
Wont change anything but makes ya feel good.

Interesting, the TWU is talking about giving bus drivers self defence lessons, so they can defend themselves against these morons. What is the world coming too.:o

The problem is a large portion of bus drivers are in their sixties, makes it difficult to defend yourself against an imbecile who is off his head. There is a call to increase penalties for those who assault bus drivers, similiar to the penalties for those who assault the police or ambo's.

protection barriers needed and emergency police call buttons.
many years ago I had one on a vline service after fri night football called police they pulled me over and when they boarded the bus and tapped the offender who was facing the rear of the bus on the shoulderhe turned around with a can in his hand....... last seen spreadeagled on the bonnet of a police car :o:D:o

We have a protection barrier on the drivers door, you can reach around it though. There is a duress button for the driver to discretely activate and the bus Operational Control Centre can hear everything that is going on, it is also recorded. Plus there are several cameras both inside and outside the bus that are recording all the time.

All this doesn't help when you are getting your head bashed in though!!!

A common practice in the USA. Not really a deterrent, but the roads are a little cleaner! ;)

G'day Mr Free:) Bloody disgraceful news mate. What is your companies policy in regard to these situations? I guess the other passengers safety is a huge factor.

G'Day DM. Basically the policy is stay in your seat and do not be confrontational with the person causing problems. Press your duress alarm and you are in direct contact with OCC who can hear everything and advise as to what action to take. Naturally police are called by OCC straightaway.

Fortunately, we do not have many problems that can't be sorted by talking calmly to the guy, this particular case at the start of this Thread is an extreme example that (thankfully) I have never had the misfortune to face.

Thanks mate,a few drivers up here have copped a bashing this year also. You should be able to go to work without the fear of some crack head going off.

I'm with you ... If i was attacked it would be pretty easy for the cops .... they could just get the ambos to clean up the very damaged bent and broken nutter from the floor infront of me.

Cops: "What happened here"
Me: "He was trying to bash poeple" ... point to person laying on unconscious on the ground.

I've never had an issue being attacked by someone.... Due to the fact its NEVER been just one person. A few years back I was jumped by a group of teenagers in the supermarket carpark .... I counted 13 of them. Luckily there was only two that wanted too fight and show off infront of all the others. So I just blocked hte attacks from those two as I worked may way backward into the supermarket where there was a lot of people at which point they all run away. I didn't lay a finger on them though, 'cos I didn't want to have the other 11 join in.

The not so funny bit? Once I was back in the supermarket a heap of poeple come over and asked if I was OK ?? WTF ?? Where were they all when it was 13 against one out in the carpark ??. If I saw one person being attacked through the windows of a shop .... I'd be grabbing every person capable of standing in the supermarket and saying "Lets go guys" .... and head out there.... I don't understand the "stand by and watch things happen" stuff that goes on these days

That may be so but the community needs to get some return on the funds allocated to keep these persons incarcerated and doing some community good is better than sitting in there working out better ways to get off their face or rob and steal from the law abiding majority.

Cops have already arrested and charged them.

I'm normally very much against males hitting females - but I have to say that bus driver showed a lot more restraint than I would have. I would not have any problem at all in giving those feral fat pigs a bloody good belt in the mouth.

But they'll get a slap on the wrist in our ****weak court system, and be out there bragging about their antics to all their dickhead mates in no time at all. :censored:

Heavy weight title fight? Notice when he tries to put one of the women in a choke hold, even his big islander hand cannot manage it and she is saved by her own obesity. Perhaps he told them because you will take two seats you need to pay for two.

Saw the two ("women"?!) on TV last night. Unbelieveable, the largest woman said that she was hit first by the busdriver, ra ra ra,......but fortunately, the camera does not lie, & they've both been charged.
DISGRACEFUL feral behaviour,...but what will they get?....anything?

Obviously the two ferals do not realise there are cameras on the bus. Bus cameras saved me on one particular incident where I was accused by a feral of something I didn't do. It all came to light when the footage was looked at!!!

When I drove buses they had no cameras, and the clowns I worked for would always believe anybody but their own drivers. They still rate as my 'worst ever' employer, and funny enough they have huge signs outside the depot wanting drivers and were even in the local paper bitching they could not get staff.

That is still a tendency of bus companies, unfortunately. They are **** scared of losing their contract should the passenger making the complaint go to the ( in NSW) Dept of Transport. Cameras are mounted inside and around the outside of the bus, so if a bus is involved in an accident with another vehicle, it's all recorded.
